What happened to you and Stace and Twoogle, Paul?

the new engine is sitting in the back of our Jeep....not in the engine bay of the Skyline....due to components being held up at customs in a shipment we could not get the engine assembled in time. We finished assembly yesterday.

Massive thanks to Peter for his efforts in organising this event and MadManz too I think it was. It really is a big effort.

Thanks again to the same two guys for getting me home on a trailer so I didn't have to sell a child into slavery for a truck.

And just when you thought the day was over; the rain came just in time to put a halt to the bracket racing fun. WSID have agreed to that the 8 undefeated will gain free entry on a wednesday night street meet (which one to be advised) and a lane to themselves from which they will finish what was started today.

Should be fun.

I made only 4 passes but reeled in a best of 12.419 @ 110.53 before bowing out to the might of the Mickey Thompsons.

I ran 111 a couple of times and on one run where I thought I did well the end timer didn't work so no MPH or ET.

Basically I smashed the inner cv on pass number 5 I think it was. On the 4th pass I tried to launch at 5000 rpm but accidentally revved to about 5800 before the clutch bit. The thing just launched.

1.783 60'

That became my new pb as detailed above so I thought, well looks like these tyres can hold 6k so that's what they will get. Held it there then engaged clutch and released handbrake. Kind of went like this; f**kIN YEEEAAAA - BANG! I stopped on the track and looked in my drivers side rear view mirror only to see a couple of good sized ball bearings chasing me down the track. I got out and caught them as they went by (artistic licence used here) and waited for my tow back to the carpark.

Man it was fun. I can only assume that with some more practice and stronger cv joints I can get better 12's and maybe even a high 11.

Was heaps of fun... pity the rain came in after the 2nd round of bracket attack. Gave me a chance to actually win some races...LOL.. :P

I was the slowest car there... with a 14.5 @ 93mph. Yet i was able to beat 1 12s and 1 11s V8 ...YAY!!!

Unlucky to some of us.... Abo Bob, NXTIME, hanyou and silvergts-t on their problems and any others that i didnt see.

What happened to NXTIME and silver

What a great day!

I would like to say thank you to all participants. Your contribution to the day was outstanding.

WSID feedback was 100% on every aspect of the day. Seeing both camps pitch in & help each other was great.

We were a little bit concerned to see the number of skylines knocked out after the first round of bracket racing.

Round two put a quick stop to that, the skylines were knocking out the V8 guys everywhere.

The rain out was a bit of a bummer however.

But wait there is more...................

Due to our exemplary behavior WSID has agreed to let the 8 finalists fight it out free of charge with a private lane hire on a Wednesday night street meet.

That's right, they will let the finalists run an 8 car bracket event on a Wednesday night.

We will have our winners, so the day is not over yet.

There are still 6 trophies up for grabs.

Well done everybody, you are all welcome back to any V8owners event.

Adam, you have now driven an LS1, are you coming over to the dark side???????

Peter.

Well done to all that participated.

Unfortunatly, we didn't make it 2 meters from the trailer.

Our HG spat trans oil everywhere, and after a big attempt to fix it, we found a crack in the housing.

Took it home, pulled the engine and trans out to find a 10" crack all the way around and 2 large chunks missing....

Oh well, would have loved to run some skylines too!

Thats how it goes

    • Yeah pretty impressive hey, good to see quality products not over-shooting their prices. That's what drew me to buy the hypergear turbo, just a shame I've never got the chance to see it in action
    • Thank you GTSBoy and MBS206 I have done the compression test with the motor out of the vehicle, reason for the test was to see if I needed to remove the head and do rings etc while its out. I'm in the process of respraying the vehicle and tidying up a few things. Story behind it all is I've just purchased the skyline and it was running when I got it, never drove it on the street though as I wanted to pull it down and do it all up again before registering it. the gentleman I purchased it from told me the motor has a forged bottom end and has a decent tune through it but I was going to pull the sump off anyway to see if it is a forged bottom end. that's why I thought id do a compression test beforehand.
    • Man, I'm kind of amazed that the price of the turbo has not changed in 7 years. Everything else is inflating beyond reason, but not this? Good on Tao / hypergear I guess? Anyways, good luck with the sale!
    • I'm selling my brand new, in the box, never used Hypergear ATR45 - and I had some additions I paid for a few yrs back when I purchased it. Never ended up having the rest of the money to add all the mods at once, so I just ended up slowly selling each part. I originally had it internally gated, with the dump pipe, however I found it was incompatible with what I was going to use it for, so I contacted (I think Ken) from Hypergear, and he and I messaged back and forth & he got me to ship the turbo back, where they modified it & made it externally gated, and gave me the 5 bolt dump pipe attachment for custom welding. (Photos below) This turbo like I said has never touched the inside of an engine bay, it's completely brand new, never used, been sitting in the same box it arrived in, covered in plastic & all. Below are the photos of it: And while the guys at Hypergear were making it in-shop, they sent me some photos of the process: I'm looking at selling this just because I'm in need of the money right now, and don't have plans on modifying the 34 anytime soon - and from reviews & peformance sheets, this turbo had amazing results back when I was researching. The turbo was purchased in 2018 for $1.9k, with the mods I got added on. Looking at the website now, for the same turbo they sell (ATR45SAT), with the current addons it adds up to $1830 for the turbo Current addons included: - Bolted dump adaptor - Ball bearing CHRA - Braided oil feeding line So I'm looking to possibly sell it for around $1800, with shipping included in that 1.8k, It cost me around $120 to ship - so yeah thought I'd throw it out there and see if anyone was interested in purchasing. Cheers!
