Autosports "ultimate Control" Skidpan No#2 Sat May 26th Oran Park

Recommended Posts

Autosports Australia and Ian Luff Motivation Australia are proud to announce the 2nd of the new "Ultimate Control" skidpan events.

Welcome to

Autosports "Ultimate Control" skidpan.

(No#2)

Saturday May 26th

ORAN PARK, SYDNEY

These events aren't not just a skidpan event; these events are designed ultimately for fun and to challenge your driving ability.

It isn't up to who has the most horsepower it isn't up to the latest breaker.. its up to who learns the most and who has the combination of finesse and skill to win and overcome a challenging situation.

The basis of these events was to create a one day "mini Dutton Rally" style event where people with no experience can get in and find out what all the fun others are having at these styles of events is about. At the same time experienced drivers who want to learn more and maybe get the edge over their competitors.

You will learn more about driving technique in challenging conditions than you will on a full race track.

So come along and meet a bunch of fellow motoring and motorsport lovers and some new friends. You will have fun in your car like you want to be doing and not just talking about it and I promise go home with a smile on your dial. So get in and have a go..

The days event will be run along the lines of the following;

Format for the day:

8.00 am

Guests arrive, sign on and registration (tea, coffee served)

9.00 am

Driver Briefing. Note Drivers that arrive late and miss the safety briefing will not be allowed to participate and will forfeit full payment.

* Drivers divided into groups.

9.30 am

Introductions to driving disciplines individual challenges include:

1.) Clover Leaf

A timed activity that incorporates power slides around the plastic markers. The wet surface will really provide lots of challenges.

2.) Super Slalom

Again competitors run against the stop watch to see who will be Top Gun. Touch a soft plastic cone and a timed penalty will apply.

3.) Autocross

The ultimate driving test where too much power will see you sideways. Smooth is fast and the stop watch will determine who is the best driver.

4.) Drag & Drift

Gas it out of the start box flat out onto the skid pan. Two laps around the wet circle without spinning out. Back through the mini slalom and stop in the garage.

THE FASTEST 3 DRIVERS FROM EACH OF GROUP ENTER THE FINAL ROUND

5.) Khanacross

A combination driving activity where acceleration, braking and change of direction around he plastic markers will see all drivers living on the edge. Any mistakes incur a timed penalty.

So not just bragging rights.. there will also be prizes on offer on the day and the Autosports Crew will be on hand as well having fun with you guys. This together with everyone cheering each other along or paying out on each other, outlines how we will bring a new dimension to the fun factor at our Oran Park..

For people who are down on the list or wanting their names down on the list, can you please PM me your contact number so we don't have any trouble chasing payments like last time.

I'm in definetely!

These are a bloody awesome day! Even though they go through no "theory", when you get out there, you learn SOOO much about your car that I don't think even a track day can teach you! (The boys don't care how much rubber you leave and smoke you make!)

Seriously, for those who missed out last time DON'T MISS OUT THIS TIME!

  • 2 weeks later...
Corinne,

No more entries?....:(((( Please PM me if there still is a spot or if you have cancelations....happy to get in.

EUG.

Hey Eug,

We are fully booked at the moment.. But if we do have anyone back out I will def let you know.

If you miss out on that one there will be another one round june/july I will let you know details on that one we start organising that one.

Cheers,

Corinne

Corrine,

I have a suggestion that we split the groups in 2 so that half can be driving and linning up an d the other group can watch....saves the massive lines and long waiting....and we get to watch others tearing it up...

Suggestion to all...i attended the first and took out the rwd turbo class with very borring driving trying to get the right lines....dont do my mistake....looking back i wish i just had fun throwing the car around and loosing control...

ps dont try to do the slalom at 80kms.....i lost it and ended up bogged off the road...

bastard! You bloody bastard!

Come and clean my car!!!

Make my car fill with dirt after pushing you out... :(

In the words of Luffy "DICKHEAD!"

And i'll be there, performing again.

As for 80km/h, I was running through there around 70kmk/h pretty sure. So 80 should be possible on my new tyres)

And you only get off the circuit when you keep the foot planted in second... :(

very much change to stockies.....i have 19" by 275 and my car would fall apart if i didnt change them....its very rough on the tyres and the skidpan isnt exactly flat....you prob scrub out.....put the stockies on and throw your car around....be careful for understeer with shittier tyres....us the power to correct the understeer and get luffy to call u a dickhead for losing it...

sorry buddy.....thanks for helping tho....

Bah!@Stockies.

I'll be out there on my good tyres, I didn't tear the last set up overly much at all especially from what everyone was saying. Although, I DID flat spot them from locking up. One thing I have to avoid this time... :)

Although Owen, you'll scrub on your guards, mine did the first time I was out, but now won't due to being raised!!! :domokun:

    • Thanks mate, couldn't find in VIC, ended up ordering one from NSW, getting rwc to get new plates and registration done.
    • Before all the EFR fan boys come in, have a look at: https://www.garrettmotion.com/racing-and-performance/performance-catalog/turbo/g-series-ii-g30-825-58mm/ It also comes in a T4 1.06 divided housing. I would dare say if you want response & also decent power, this thing would chop.   AND apologies, just re-read your post, you've already bought the turbo... whatever you do, make sure you stick with divided housing and proper twin scroll manifold.
    • People have got to stop doing that. ShatGPT is not a search engine. It is a hallucination factory.   I also would recommend the 1.05. The .83 will "work" for you , in that it will be more responsive, but I think you'll find that it won't be anywhere near as good running it out to 8000rpm as the big housing will be.
    • Decided for the first time ever I would tow my car TO the track day on the same working theory as bringing tools and spares "if I have it I wont need it, but if I leave it behind i will 100% need it" all setup and ready to go out and try these A050 for the first time First session showed I needed to stiffen up the dampers a touch but still managed a few 1:21's without much effort. things were looking good. Came in a dropped the tyres down  to 26/28 as they had gotten to 35/33C from 22C cold The first lap of session two I managed to drop into 1:20's. Then in the second lap into the second session. Coming into T3 and I suddenly lost brake pedal followed by some huge rear end vibrations and scraping sounds. Got it back into the pits after session ended and found this. in the attached video, all of the wobble is in the hub its self, wheel is mint, and bearing feels tight. lKXLqpd - Imgur.mp4   Deciding it was a bent spindle I tried to find bearing/hub assembly locally but was unsuccessful so it was loaded back onto the trailer i luckily brought it on to drag it back home
