The dyno was sus... same story every year!

Its there are a comparo. So across the board all cars are equal based on it.

The guys that run it, Mainline, have done so for the past 2 years... if not 3.

I've stood beside them each year aswell. Well, all except for this year as im not working for Cabin's Melb show this time around...

They are certianly not fudging figures or altering settings car-to-car.

I dont know much bout dyno readings at all which is why i say suss... Cause i dont know, but i thought the correction was set the same? Has to do with the temperature, pressure and humidity of the air. But on ferahs reading one time it was .99 and other it was 2ish... I am prob wrong but I'd like to know if it effects it differently anyhow. R31Nismoid im sure u would know. u seem to know your stuff.

Thats my reasoning of saying suss. Im not saying it was wrong.

Im not up with the latest gear from Mainline to be hoenst, but i dont think they use a lot of correction. Not like if you were using DD "shootout" which does all sorts of things.

.99/2 could have been any number of settings. If i was familiar with the Mainline gear i'd be able to tell you. Maybe if Sam see's this he might know as he uses one.

Could have been ramp rates, all sorts of things. Things that might need to be changed depending on the car thats being run as dynos are not a "one setting suits all" type of thing due to many factors.

Ok cheers... Just wondered why it changed and like u said

your prob right. I just wondered why it changed for same car. If anyone knows cheers...

SAU-Vic should have a stand at Semi Finals.

We used to do the May show when there was only one but it turned out to be a bit too much to organise so we made an executive decision to put all our efforts into Semi Finals which tends to be a bigger show anyway.

Expressions of interest will go up around late August or early September to work out some ideas on what the SAU-Vic will entail.

also the car audio distributers seemed to give it a miss due to rediculous costs for doing displays but will still do semi's though

yeah its more about lining pockets than promoting aussie skill. Shame its dying off as 5-6 years ago it was great and suppliers were willing to pnmp in heaps of cash i know we budgeted over 40k for autosalon over a year but we forever got burned by the organisers as well as our associate companies (audio). I hear the organisation has changed but once bitten twice shy....... and as sad as it is i would now probaly rather divert the funds to summernats and shit like that.

    • Hello Liam - HA - somewhere in flies - possibly I have an update, but I have been so busy, projects have taken a back seat to getting business back on track.  I will let you know the outcome, but I think I am going to go for the 8HP,  CHEERS.  ELVIS
    • Thanks Joshuaho96, yes - as someone else also suggested, the 8HP seems the 'smart choice' - HA - and ZERO to do with cost, but I am sure 8 speeds will be better than 6 speeds - HA - maybe.  I will purchase a new 8HP,  Thanks.  ELVIS.
    • Nobody said anything about getting a "...cheap Falcon box..."- it was JUST a question about a specific transmission.  And YOU may have a problem with not enough $ - HA - I do NOT - so please keep your comments like you are some financial guru to yourself.  BUT - much appreciated re the cost of a new 8HP and I twill probably be the way I go.  Thanks.  ELVIS.
    • Most people I know in the BMW world are swapping 6HPs for 8HPs. The 6HP has a big issue with one of the clutch drum bushings wearing out shockingly early which leads to them going into limp mode going into 5th/6th gear as the oil pressure loss from the worn bushing causes clutch slip. Even with the adaptations in shifting the TCU can't bump line pressure enough to keep the clutches from slipping and burning. I've personally looked at a 335d with 6HP28 with one owner and ~90k miles on it and the transmission adaptations were way out of spec and even though it nominally drove ok I'm confident it would have needed a full rebuild sooner than later. Other than that they're fine, but the 8HP doesn't really have weird issues like this to my knowledge and they're in everything these days so pulling them out of crashed cars isn't too hard.
    • There is an ABS pump and a few solenoids. You could trigger the front/rear solenoids with a pressure bleeder attached with a Consult 2.
