hi skyliners,

i was wondering how fast some cars are from the lights as i am one of those people who hates to lose and i only really race if i think i am a chance.

ah...um...of course i am referring to the people who have dragged these at the LEGAL drags not on the street from the lights...errr yes that'll do...

1990s TX5 turbo

VT Commorore v6

magna 3.5 v6

1990s laser TX3 turbo

how would i fare with my 32gtst?

are there any other cars which i should watch out for other than the obvious 180's gtir's wrx's and the likes

Cheers,

Waz.

I wouldn't worry about any on that list .... but watch out for S15 200SX's .... I only have Trust Power Extreme II zorst, pod intake and a bit o boost (11psi) and I run 13.33 @ 104mph in full street trim :P .... wait til I get a cooler and Power FC for some decent tuning (running so rich atm its not even funny!).

u will beat those cars listed...but frosty, u better go race a rex, theres no way a stock 32 will beat a rex, even with a zorst and pod ud really struggle, rex's r capable of 13s if driven right, as much as i hate to admit it, ive seen 32s with basic mods run 15s and high 14s at very best....

my car is auto as well so factor that into the equation

what if the TX5 turbo is modded? my mate is thinking of buying one and i wanna rape his car before he can say a word!

frosty, i am a full time student with no $$$ so my mods end where i see a price tag. the only thing i might consider is some kind of boost controller but would be one of the cheap (ie turbosmart) ones that are under $100. is this effective? what else could i do myself? i have drop in panel filter + CAI and i cut a hole behind the intercooler (replaced it with mesh so no rocks get in) :P

thanks,

Waz.

unfortunately andrew ur wrong.

a stock WRX is nothing... it bogs down and most of them are driven by suits who cant change gears to save themselves.

only one i took on and got beaten by had a FMIC, POD, a bit more boost and a zorst.... i got up to about his rear wheel b4 we stopped.

and yes s15s arent to be under estimated :P got drilled by one the other week lol full exhaust, computer, boost, CAI Box and POD...

prob about 75

but i cant let it go until the other stuff goes aswell....

no in cabin adj, thats another unroadworthy bit

least this way u hide it in the engine bay and a cop wont c it...all u do is grab a screw driver to turn up and down, and lets b honest, as if ud eva turn it down...thats y i didnt get it anyway

better stop hijackin...pm me if u want to talk about it :P

stock 32s run 15s.....rexies r def quicker than that......

stock? i think ur wrong there.

the new ones might be... but the older ones arent.

STis on the other hand.

u should drill them... i raced one the other night on half throttle and it couldnt get past... it stayed at about the same speed but didnt gain... it was wet and everytime i put the foot down (in 4th or 5th) the side stepped out so kept it half throttle.

supercharged v6 i took on at calder i beat by half a second.... so theyre nothing super either... 5.7litres will be a bit more challenging specially if theyre modified... my mates 300kw SS beats me.... just.

very tricky

ive mauled every vx clubby ive raced bu at the drags an el stock xr8 was up my ass the entire track...twicw

we do under estimate badly

nark, i hate to say a rex would beat u on the road and maybe me...but driver is a lot i give u that..a lot of em r poofs cos i beat a rex in the 87 integra once, haha

thanks guys ... took on a VN SS once about a month ago and i killed it by at least 3 carlenghts but i just assumed he wheelspun or something as i thought the v8 might be faster than my r32. sweet as i should have given my mate a go against his s15 200sx before he sold it. it was stock oz spec

i find that VERY hard to believe.

I race a 300KW GTS Monaro about a week ago.

From 2 runs starting at 80km upto 2** he lost once.

And the second time only had a car and a half on me cause i had to wait for my 4500rpm boost arrival (curse the lag)

But hey. I can handle geting beaten :P

u cant say what car is faster

you cant underestimate the car..

like i know a guy with a 13 secon tx5

and it looks like shit...

and ive spoke to a guy with a sigma who ran a 12.9... unless u see what sunder the bonnet

dont under estimate it..

and yes i think rexies woth and exhaust and boost will beat an r32 gtst with same mods

as much as i hate em.. i got drilled buy one... they mite not have the power

but they got all four wheels taking off where we only have the rear 2...

    • Misfires when the car is fully warm are generally attributed to the coils (and/or the igniter, on cars with a separate igniter). They can stop working properly when they get hot for a number of reasons. Either electric/electronic, or from thermal expansion opening up gaps and allowing HV leakage. Seeing as you have replaced the coils, that could/should rule them out. But I wouldn't always assume so. Were the coils genuine? Or is there a chance you have bought some counterfeit Chinesium shit? Then we're back onto loom connections. They can fail when warm/hot for the same reasons. Inspections, cleaning of contact surfaces, ensuring that terminals are fully inserted, etc etc, are all justified. The same (heat effects) holds true for the other electrics and their connectors. AFM & CAS, primarily. If you try that Chinesium AFM, drive it around on low load until it is properly hot, but do'nt give it more load than you have to, except when you need to see if it will still miss. I'm dead serious about the untrustworthiness of the calibration of those copy AFMs. Injectors are unlikely to get hot unless the fuel is coming back around hot. You could try squirting them with compressed air or freeze spray to cool them back down to see if they are maybe the cause.
    • Alright, all the plugs looks good. Noticed that it starts to get bad when the car is up to temp, that's when things starts to misfire hard. next to do is Injector cleaning and such. Got in touch with a shop to do work on the injectors next Monday also help on diagnosis.

    • Hence why I've only modified my car into a pure daily. Everything has to remain reliable & roadworthy, while providing value and grin factor. It also must not be handcrafted to the extent that the car will be immovable if something breaks because you cannot get or make a replacement to at least limp around with.
    • Nah, I definitely do that kind of stuff with my car. I do drive it around as a daily! It's just that mindset about building a car to actually still use/retain it's function as a car is rare. If you modify your car into a weekender, IMO you've ruined 5/7ths of the fun. It should remain fun to do daily errands in.
