hey guys and girls,

i pick up my GTR next week (SO EXCITED!)

the car is exactly what i was after - an all original silver series 3 R33 GTR vspec, but has anybody ever seen these extra air intakes which have been added into the front bumper? there is one on the left hand side of the bumper and one near the left hand blinker as seen in the picture.

just want to know what they are before i have them patched up and painted, or replace the bumper if necessary!

the genuine driving lights will also be for sale shortly if anybody wants to jump in first and grab them before the ad goes up - PM me with an offer!

any information on the extra intakes or even any feedback at all about the car would be appreciated.

thanks,

chris.

The one on the left hand side larger one is for your intercooler i am pretty sure, the one next to the blinkers i think is just a optical thing same as the ones on the lower lip unless they are feeding air to a lower air diffuser or if the car has cold air intake setup.

thanks for the tips guys - i will check out what the vents are there for when i get the car.

its got me wondering if they were custom made parts or if they are common bumper mods from japan!?

They will be to flow air through for an oil cooler since thats where you install an oil cooler.... I have to take my front left indicator out when on the track to get airflow in there, and i have some vents put in my inner guard in front of the wheel for the air to get out.....

I did see a on a Series 3 the front left indicator had a hole in it to allow airflow, never seen it like yours tho, could be aftermarket?

ferni - i think your spot on. the car does have an oil cooler fitted. thank you so much :/

it makes sense now!

would it matter if i did still patch up those holes now - or are they essential :D

would the car still have enough intake vents if i did patch them!?

apparently these are genuine nismo add ons for the oil cooler!

anybody have any more information on the parts!?

why are you so determined to close them up? like the guy posted in your other thread on this topic. they are there for a reason. to allow air to flow through your oil cooler. it's an air to liquid core. without the 'air' part of that equation it's not going to be doing very much at all. if you really don't want it you may as well remove the vents and the oil cooler too and sell it. but personally I would just leave it alone.

we will see what happens

ive just always prefer the stock gtr front bumper look! :P happy to trade bumpers with someone in the future so these intakes dont go to waste ;)

Rather then totally cover em up why not add a grey mesh sprayed in same colour as car so that no one can really tell they are there, or some other material in which air can flow thru but can disguise them.

My personal opinion i prefer that bar, more unique and not too ricey actually serves a purpose.

thanks for the help guys! really appreciated.

we will see what happens! :stupid: i LOVE the stock GTR front bar, lol no rice :)

i may even remove the oil cooler later - so if anybody wants an oil cooler later on in the future - please let me know and make an offer! LOL!

Isn't the stock oil cooler on r33 GT-R's in front of the radiator...

R33 GTR don't have oil coolers standard... But most of the kits are made to fit behind the left hand indicator.

If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
