new week, new dickhead asking the same questions

well not really, cause ive just spent an hour doing a search and had a lot of questions answered...

i know i want a full turbo back system, i have also been told to get a split dump pipe as it does make a difference (which i wasn't going to do at first)

everyone on here seems to sway to 3.5' rather then any other size... so i'll probably go that...

I know i want a cannon, thats just personal preference...

now, what i am unsure of is:

what to get it made out of: im thinking stainless steel cause it looks better, and i dont think it will get too hot the way i drive... has anyone actually cracked a stainless steel exhaust?

the cat: hi flow i assume, someone mentioned metal hi flow is better, but i think i was drunk at the time so i dont remember...

custom or store bought: i know some guys that do WONDERFUL custom exhaust jobs... they quoted me $950 for full turbo back which i was going to take, but i dont think that included a split dump pipe... but with all these store bought, simple bolt on exhausts, is there any point in having anything done custom? as im sure a lot of thought went into these exhaust systems...

If i have missed anything, please lemme know :)

all sounds good.

definately get a highfolw metal cat.

i would take the custom made job over the bolt in one, espescially if you say they are "wonderful"ly made.

$950 for a custom made stainless exhaust with all you need from the turbo back sounds pretty good to me. the only way to get a cheaper one would be to make it yourself (if your a welder).

And ive never had any trouble with stainless steel, aslong as the TIG is cranked up enough.

yeah, they had a customer at their workshop, he had a V8, paid them $1250 for all the way back from the exhaust headers...

originally the car had a $2500 job from somewhere i wont mention and he was SHOCKED at the shit work, and amazed at what these guys had done... i havn't welded since year 9, but i could do better...

my mate is a welder and he says this guys are pretty much as good as it gets...

ill see what others have to say, simply cause someone might say something i havn't heard yet... but thank you for the input

and i meant cracked after it was put on, from differentiating heat temperatures... people say it cracks, but my car isnt exactly running 3bar of boost, doing laps of wakefield, so im not too worried about it... just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with breaking a stainless steel exhaust...

seriosuly tho, u can buy my canon if u want. it has a 3.5" pipe that goes to a 5" canon and 4" tip. it's stainless and veilside is the brand. pm me if u're interested.

it'll be loud and toit. im only selling it cos i need something dead quiet

i went for the full custom exhaust and paid around the 1k mark. if i could've chosen to do it again i would've gotten the dump and front pipes (split style - from one of the traders) and cat separate (metalcat), then any cat back exhaust out there.

i would've gotten them all to fit into the stock location so if i ever got defected i could stick on the standard exhaust with no dramas. i had to get my standard exhaust cut and welded to fit which cost me a bit extra.

you might find some custom exhausts sound sh#t compared to a Jap item like a Kakimoto exhaust. (best sounding exhaust for an rb)

i beleive the best sounding exhaust for an rb is straight off the dumps (providing you have rather large dumps i.e. trust) or off the front pipe.

that is pretty much EXACTLY what i plan on doing :D its great to know that im on track with this, as i dont really want to change much of it... the canon on the back ill probably have to change til i find one i like...

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
