minimum usage degreaser on your engine bay for starters, wash the engine with soap and keep it running so nothin earths out. then polish all the paint inside your engune bay..thats what i did.And regular polishes every 2-3 months.

as far as mods go purchase a full 3inch turbo back exhaust, get some nice rims and lower your car. then if you want to boost it up follow the sticky trhread in forced induction performance.

good luck with your new car mate :P

full turbo back exhaust should be first on the list. then pod filter, then up the boost to about 9psi, and get an intercooler upgrade (either r34 side mount cooler, or front mount cooler).

after that you can lower it and make it look pretty if thats what you like.

i would do the pod filter first since its the cheapest, and u can get one of those drift ones and they make a cool whistling sound....and get an oil pressure gauge, boost gauge, water temp AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD will people please upgrade your brakes... ffs anyone would thing those weeny little brakes will actually stop you.

Change, all oils, brake and clutch fluid, belts, and if your timing belt hasnt been replaced then hell might aswell chuck that one in, check your water pump while you are at it, change fuel filters, intank and inline, thats all i can think of right now.

not sure what you already got so the following are the fundamental mods that most people get...

1. Pod air filter... recommend Blitz 4000 superblow.

2. Full cat-back exhaust - 3.5 inch HKS perhaps?.

3. Boost Controller - recommend eletronic one.

4. Front Mounted intercooler - HKS or Blitz brand or Hybrid etc.

5. Change driving lights - HID perhaps?

6. Get a nice DVD/CD/MP3 Deck/Screen combo - Pioneer perhaps?

7. Get some subs, tweeters / speakers?

8. Blow-Off Valve for good turbo airflow + sound? GFB or HKS?

9. Nice set of 18 inch or over mags... can't spare the cash here... the mags do justice to your ride.

10. And finally..... a nice bodykit... this is option and totally personally.

That's all I can think of that are 'standard' mods - well, those are my mods anyways...

Good luck mate...

degreaser in the bay will be fine just dont put it on the paint... someone mentioned polishing the bay every couple on months thats extreme for a road car but each to there own. mods wise as said before id be going the full exhaust/high flow cat, sports panel filter or pod, there was a right up on a budget the r34 ic is a good upgrade for the extra bit of flow and yeh boost controller and wind the boost up....

i meant polish the actual car every 2-3 months lol engine bay once or twice a year to keep it fresh

the r33 gts-t has 2 piston front brakes. in mine there would've been no point upgrading as they locked up easy enough as it was. so bigger brakes would've meant more lock ups. and as it is they will out brake a lot of cars out there, so there is more chance of having some stooge in a commodore running up your arse if you have to stop in a hurry.

depends on the degreaser. i just get a few cans of that export stuff for about $1 each. does the job and doesn't damage the paint. if it does damage the paint then your car has had a respray and it was a very dodgy job.

i just spray it on everything, then get a new toilet brush and scrub over everything, then hose away. then run the engine for a while to dry everything out.

Kralster.... you dude are stupid

Yes so does an r32, upgrading your brakes actually assists with the removal of brake fade. which is what you dont want when coming up to a corner, thats like saying hell ill upgrade my car to make 250-300rwhp but f**k the brakes, they dont need to be upgraded. The car was manufactured with a limit to hp in mind, when you start exceeding that your braking performance cant keep up. and if you have to stop in a hurry A) id rather be able to stop in a hurry and not smash the front of the vehicle if possible, and if the stooge behind you doesnt brake hard enough he was probably following too close so it wont be your fault.

By an upgrade to the braking system... good pads, rotors slotted or something, a good brake fluid (something that can handle some heat), and if your really up for it (or the car needs it) some new brake lines, with a preference to braided. There are options for going further than that but you shouldnt need them for a while.

But to get some fun out of the car safely, do the above with your brakes. Do the suspension while your at it. Get the engine breathing a bit better, so exaust, split dump pipe, a good filter with cai. Maybe some more boost. And if you can get one a pfc would be a good upgrade, and upgrade the intercooler, as mentioned an R34 standard sidemount would be fine. Then the car will go a bit better, and handel MUCH better. All the while being safer.

It looks like he'll be doing some fairly basic upgrades as far as power is concerned, I think you'll find the stock brakes are more than adequate.

It is a good idea to fit some quality pads and change the fluid but apart from that the stock 33 gtst brakes a very good.

For street driving there is really no point, now if you were going to be going to the track then yes, you might start to experience brake fade but for every day driving and the occasional emergency braking situation, there is no point in upgrading.

well its nothing special but here are the pics of my 4 door r34 with basic mods including stereo, rims, and lowered springs.... its auto non turbo but it does the job for the moment until i get the turbo model.... hopefully

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
