Hey guys, im getting my car fixed after the last drag day when my clutch let go (or whatever it was that let go) and im going to go out and buy all the mods now so i can do it all at the same time. Basically im only posting this because im not sure on the "detailed" information that is needed for mods such as "what cc injectors" or "which cams to get". Ive got a 5k budget including tune + labour.

So what im after:

- i want to have not much more then 300rwkw

- want to hit a high 11sec 1/4 mile, car has run a 12.3sec as is

- keep in mind it will be a daily driver as well

- i want turbo lag to be minimal with a good strong mid range punch

What i currently have already (that would make a difference). currently running 250rwkw (dyno sheet is in the RB26 turbo upgrades sticky):

- mines ecu

- full turbo back exhaust

- slide hi flow rb26 turbos

- k&n panel filter

- os giken twin plate clutch & flywheel

- hks evc 3 boost controller @ 15psi

- splitfire coilpacks

- JJR hardpipe cooler kit

Im pretty happy with the brakes & suspension setup i currently have, got a few upgrades to make here and there but this is excluded from the budget.

This is what i have planned so far:

- power fc - ~$1500 inc tune

- injectors (what cc/brand?) - ~$1000 installed

- fuel pump (looking at a bosch 040) - ~$400 installed

- cams & cam gears (type/brand?) $?

anything else ive missed? i dont think i will need to upgrade the air flow meters for the power im after (under 320rwkw) and i dont really want to open up the engine other then the cams, unless something is really needed.

Thanks guys.

5k? Thats more than you need

PowerFC - $1500

Injectors - Nismo 550/555 - PT# 16600-RRR60 - $750-$800, then whatever for installation

Fuel Pump - $320 installed i wouldnt pay anymore than that for a Bosch pump install, its a 20min job and the pump costs $220

Adj Cam Gear - $200 installed

Tot - basically 3k

You might have a 100 here or an extra 100 there. But 3k will get ya over the line without a drama.

Nismoid I think your a little under with the Cam gears quote. 2 gears and instal at $200???

AFM's are not needed for what his chasing. I would not be worried about cams either and like others suggested use the money on a decent set of tires if you havent already got them.

Seen good and bad tunes coming out of bel as of late, dunno what the go there is. I fixed up a tune on a 180sx today that was done there, Owner was most disapointed in the results.

I did say give or take a 100 here or there (just add 100 on if thats the case)

Cant be spot on everything all the time :P

Modified stock ones IIRC are $150 i can get them for.

Not sure if thats RRP or whatever though, i dont stay on the prices all the time ;)

So you wouldn't bother with replacing the fuel rail? air filter? or even replace stock flywheel & clutch?

PowerFC? I've never heard of it (Being new here and all), so I'm guessing that is an aftermarket ECU right?

Mark. If take the time to read the first post, you'll see the parts that hanyou already had on his car.

These include a better clutch, panel filter upgrade among other parts.

These were left off the list because he does not require them.

If you have never heard of a PowerFC, i suggest you spend a lot more time reading. Its the most common choice of ECU on a Skyline :nyaanyaa:

And you certainly dont need to change the fuel rail for 300rwkw. I wouldnt even bother changing it for 400rwkw.

Good point, sry just got caught up in your posts. Well I'm going from a VL commodore to an R34 GT-T, so, there 'might' be some similarities, as the VL had the RB30 and the R34 the RB25neo. Yeah sry mate, just getting a tad overzealous, I did in fact read the first post. I've been reading a fair bit the last two weeks on this forum, so I kind of gathered power FC was an ECU, I asked only to make sure...

just to confirm, the bosch 040 will be sufficient to hold the power? how much can it take? as im about to buy one now.

just orderd a set of the Aerospeed cam gears on the group buy as well.

edit: never mind im actually going the nismo or tomei fuel pump for safety.

    • Sounds more like what Brad said, that it's mainly transfer. What pad bed in procedure did you use, and did you replace/machine the rotors, or just swap pads?
    • The stutter is almost entirely in the pedal. I don't feel the brakes release and reapply as you would with ABS engaging but the pedal feels that way, without the brakes releasing. It only lasts for less than a second and the pedal is fine again. It's hard to explain, sorry.  I'll get under this weekend and just double check everything is tight. Fluid is at max where I left it.
    • What bedding in procedure did you use?   When you say stutter, what exactly do you mean? Like it feels like someone letting go of the brakes momentarily and regrabbing them again to get you to stop? Re-reading your post, and that is what it kind of makes me think you're explaining, like theres a little bit of a jolt, likely just as you're reaching a stop. I've only had this issue once. And if its caused by what caused mine, you will want to get the car up on stands again and check it over. Mine was a case of a caliper mounting bolt coming out and letting the caliper rotate on the other remaining bolt and gave play in a wheel as it came to a stop. But not every stop either!
    • Yeop... binned it   This will be a summary will not many pics atm and cbf  Fixed the samsonas - it was totally munched Put a new precision 7675 T4 on with proper split pulse mani Got to Sydney to get to car - drove to canberra to get racecar - drive back to sydney that night Next day all day at Plasmaman putting on new clamps cleaning some things up and adding another large engine oil cooler sitting at the rear above diffuser to keep things cooler Next day - Tuesday - on Dyno - killer wikid awesome pumped out really good numbers - more mid range and on lower boost levels Wednesday - first prac - all day again getting the suspension right - had to borrow front suspension again - out do a lap come in - out do a lap - in - what i had just couldnt handle the load at the more consistent higher speeds - got a lap in at the end of the day that was pretty reasonable  Put it this way that lap wouldve had me in 4th in Pro am for the whole event - with only 700 hp and used tyres Thurs first official prac day - lap out warm up - then entered a hotlap with above setting and 80% effort took corners 1,2,3 and into 4 car felt awesome -  rear came around out of nowhere bang into the wall near front on at whatever 140 kmph Done, over, gone Just one of those how did that happen apparently as all indications show nothing out of the ordinary Got to spend the rest of the time at the event like I hadnt done before - was actually Ok mainly as I had my family and my boy is 9 and got treated like a rockstar Long trip home, lost a trailer wheel in nowhere land, X5 airbag suspension gave up half way across nullabour and rode on bumps stops (its now completely fine) had to do a 19 hr drive day on day 3 as accommodation got screwed up so just had to keep driving till found a town with some Now to reassess - hopefully the motor and other things are OK but yet to be seen too. There is no easy fix there is no i'll just order that part and get it sent - we'll have a talk to people see what can happen and what the go is but at minimum its rebuild from scratch struts forward and alot of time effort and $ should and if I return and if but maybe/ when  I have the cage tied into the front strut towers - if I didnt have that things couldnt been worse you can say its just a front end but if you know what goes into these cars... you'll know what that actually means in reality   Car was very fast. Disappointing we just didnt get to show it Effort doesnt win you races though     Apparently this is motorsport !
    • Thanks, will do that.  Thankfully they still feel great.
