Does any1 rekon the boost 98 from united helped me along at all...

Im quite interested in fuels and their advantages and thats the reason why I choose the boost98 as it has sumting like 5% ethanol in it...Ive read quite a few articles claiming its miracles, the ethonal that is and how it has to be tuned to it...

Before I got it tuned i used bp 98 and boost 98..untuned the bp98 felt way better, the ethonal decreased power.

I wanted to use shell v-power racing but I cant even find it in sydney yet...

Let me know your thoughts...im still wondering why the power was so high..the dyno is a pretty average reading dyno(DD) aswell.

Cheers

my car is tuned on shell v power 98

i tried a tank of ultimate recently and its knock went from its usual max of 20 up to 70

not impressed i went back to v power and the knock stopped.

havent tried boost 98 but i think its the same blend as shell with a 5% ethanol

Darren,

BOOST98 and v-power racing do have the same blend percentage of ethanol though I would think the qaulity and R&D of the shell fuels would be better, as they make a stack load of different race fuels and chemicals...toluene for eg,

I was hooked ever since i read the thread in zoom or hpi with that 32gtr gaining somewhere near 20rwkw with just the changing of fuel from normal 98 to ethanol enhanced fuel..

There are quite a few servos in Sydney with Shell V Power Racing 100 ron, they are listed on the Shell Web Site. We use the two on the Princes H'way, one at Carlton, near StGeorge Leagues Club or the one at Gymea, city side of the High School.

In a Shoot Out dyno graph, I would be concerned with the inlet air temp being 60 degrees with an ambient of 27.

I am not sure why he insisted on doing it in 3rd gear. The constant threat of kick down prevents proper tuning at those rpms. We always tune autos in 2nd gear, much less chance of kickdown. Or better still lock it in 3rd. For the Stagea we use 2nd gear and select the snow setting, that locks out 1st gear anyway.

:( cheers :(

SK,

The 3rd question is a question for the tuner, Im sure he has a good reason for using third..

I will have to look at the website...though I live out in sydneys west and all the shells do not have this fuel as far as I am aware...

I will be taking it out to WSID to see if the power reflects the cars mph...

I am not expceting a good time, but the mph will hopefully show its future potential...

the stock auto gearbox is slowly dying..im better to take my foot of the accelerator then keep it flat between gears. Next mod will be to do something to the auto box...

Cheers

Also,

The plan is to go to WSID on anzac day...GUESS what time or MPH I will run????

Im thinking 13.5@105mph with a 2.2 60ft as the car doesnt move much until 4000rpm where it wheel spins until second then just pulls and pulls...

Cheers

I'll be there at WSID on anzac day to race you :P white series 2 r33gts with gtr32 rims up front

with 234rwkw you should be expecting around 108-110mph at least but i dunno if the auto affects it.

hope your enjoying the new power :action-smiley-069:

Thats what I was think but the auto doesnt change gears good at all and thinking I may loose mph because of it..thus the low 1/4mile time also...

Im sure with a proper auto and good tyres with a good 60ft this power should net a 12.6-12.8 time.

i personally wouldn't flog the auto to death on anzac day.

by all means do a run or two, but by not having a shift kit and a trans cooler your asking for trouble.

each time it tries to change gears its going to shred your stock bands in the trans and cause enormous amounts of heat.

especially if your already having trouble with it shifting.

just be careful is all im saying otherwise you will be walking home...

Youre right dangerman I am a little worried, but cant fight that urge..

I was thinking of stalling it up on the stock convertor but I may not even do that...see how it goes.

  • 4 months later...

Hi All,

For those interested just a few updates on this car;

AUTO DIED (RIP)..Not really a big surprise, but it did last a long time with a fair bit of abuse with no cooler.

Now have the following to replace;

Nismo lightened flywheel

Nismo/Exedy 4 puk brass button clutch (pads are thin, race clutch..bites hard)

1200kg pressure plate

R33 5speed

I am doing the conversion now..

Also parts upgraded

- Putting heat shields back on the turbo and manifold

- Fixing the exhaust wrap that was ripped off the bottom of the dump (too low) :)

-Wrapping the exhaut up a bit more past the cat.

-Cat colapsed (Catco 3inch) so deciding what to do here. Only one side colapsed by the looks of it so might just take half of it out.

- Installing electronic boost control device, HKS EVC3..Not sure what boost level yet.

-Finally going to install my GTR fuel pump. The standard fuel pump lasted 4-5months no worries there so that proves a point to some - I think.

- Wanting to change the inlet from the pod to the turbo to a solid type, ss or silicone. I think it will start closing shortly if it hasnt started to already.

- Enclose pod filter...I put the standard air box back on for a while but I noticed it lost power when getting speeds up..but it was a little more responsive. I have two cold air feeds to it as it stands.

When I do all this I will be taking it back to get retuned at hitmans....maybe guess the power for the changes made. My injectors wont like me though and the stock AFM..not wlling to change these though so power will depend on these items.

Cheers...

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
