Hi,

I'm currently looking at buying a Nissan Stagea that's yet to be complied to save myself some $'s. I'm located in Adelaide, and the car is in Melbourne. What are my options? Can I get it complied in Adelaide if I buy it and drive it back with trade plates? (I can borrow a mates plates). It's a completely stock S2 RS4 Neo.

Thanks in advance.

Id forget about buying an uncomplied car altogether. Although you might save some $$...that will be made up x10 by headaches and stress, i guarantee it.

Agreed.

The few of these that I've known have been bitches.

What often happens is someone imports it, and may not like the car, usually because it's crap. So, they recover the money by on selling.

To comply it you'll need a lot of paperwork (De-reg info, customs info, etc.) and chasing it up in a different name is a pain in the butt.

If I can offer advice, I'd say avoid it.

Ask him to get it complied and rego'd, adding the cost of this to the car.

The better option would be to contact J-spec or prestige and import it yourself though.

It's all your choice, but I am yet to hear good news from people buying uncomplied cars, and several bought cars that could NOT be complied (due to rust in towers, conflicting engine/ chassis numbers, too many aftermarket parts, etc.)

I'm sure there must be some people who have bought a bargain, but I'd advise against trying, especially for a stagea. They'r

e too nice to do it half arsed.

exactly how do dotars feel about changing raws after the import approval has been submitted ?

I know of a couple that have happened because raws went bust/closed down ect but they seemed to want reasons

can you just do it if you change your mind or buy the car before its complied off someone else ?

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
