bravia
I was just wondering - what actually generally gets done when a car gets serviced, for your average 10 000km service? At what points do you need more work done? Is there anybody who's taught themselves how to service their car (ie somebody who didn't previously know too much about cars mechanically) to save a bit of money Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/166582-car-service-what-exactly-is-done/ Share on other sites
R-SPEC
average 10K service is just things like engine oil change, new oil filter, new air filter etc major service would be at 100Ks always serviced my cars myself, just buy the parts and get into it. nothing to it Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/166582-car-service-what-exactly-is-done/#findComment-3083900 Share on other sites
blinko
best way to learn is to get someone to show you. normal service is oil, oil filter, and air filter. the machanic will tel you after he has done the service if anything else needs to be done. /2on
Normal Copper plugs are meant to be changed every 20 thousands k's but for best performance there meant to be changed roughly every 7500k's thats why alot of people change copper plugs soo often There was a whole topic about this somewhere on here Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/166582-car-service-what-exactly-is-done/#findComment-3088156 Share on other sites
Trav33
Mechanics will do more than just an oil+spark plug change - they look over the car for anything which is perished, loose, worn, broken, etc. They use their experience and qualifications (which i dont have), which is why i like to run my line past a mechanic every now and again to let them inspect it for something i cant see Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/166582-car-service-what-exactly-is-done/#findComment-3100725 Share on other sites
