missed me shaney poo...

i still can rev 2500rpm higher than that... :(

.... BITCH.. i could say something like at least mine drives lol

mmm stable healthy oil pressure.. :D

yes about time.. i wanna see 12s before i get my R34 GTT.. cause ill be seeing 14s in that :D

i'm laughing out loud right now....no seriously, really hard. You reckon you can rev your standardish 32 GTR to 10k safely?? I wanna see pics/vids of this....

I apologise to Noel because this does belong in another thread....so mark I challenge you to create one and tell us the mods your car has that allows you to rev to 10k??

I'm a puritan at heart Ben. Whilst the 30 bottom end does have some appeal I much prefer the idea of having a hot 25 in a 33 st. Theres something bogan about dumping an outsourced engine in any car to my way of thinking. Sorta makes it a mongoloid hybrid . Even in the old days when i ran holdens it was accepted that the chevys were the better engine but ford had the stronger drive trains. It was common to fit top loader boxes and 9 inch ford rear ends to the holdens to get some reliability but i couldnt bring myself to do it.

I persevered with the bowtie product till I made it work and was more satisfied for doing it.

The other reason is the aussie underdog thing. Whilst most opt for the 26 or the 30 I think there is a ton of potential in the 25.

The only limitation at this point is in cam selection and i think that can be overcome as well. After all, making horsepower is all about getting air fuel in, burning it and getting it out efficiently. With the right cams I see no reason why the 25 cant match it at least with the 26, we are only talking 100 cc's here. Less than 5%. Given that most 26's are pushing an awd system and are inherintly heavier as a result of it i think that pound for pound the performance bar should be on about a par. It might be different if we were talking about mega power in the 800/1000 hp range Where the 26 valve train can be taken further but we are dealing in street/strip cars here.

Hey noel so have you got any ideas or eyes on specifics on valve train, did you get any info on converting to solids and what not? did you find any prices

Edited:1130pm :P

noel, i reckon it'd be a good idea if you'd post up what u want from this car, both power wise and use wise i.e drags, track etc etc. then we can all start giving you some ideas to look into :P

At this stage mate the best option would appear to be the bill hill one. Take your head and solid cams and hydraulic lifters to him and he converts your lifters to solid operation then installs the cams and adjusts the valve lash by trimming the valve stems. I have been told that the block may have to be welded totake care of the vct but I am looking further in to that today. He quoted me approx 400 dollars to do the job.

    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
    • Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
