What changes must be done to a RB26dett engine to produce 500-600 hp.(oil pump,pistons.....)?The tubos will be replaced by hks gt 2535(prefered for small lug). The car will be driven every day. Is it better to buy a rb26det engine an modify it.(cheaper?)?

I readed somewhere that r34 gtr doesn't come with oil cooler.

In my country the average temp at summers is 40 C.I think a oil cooler is needed.Do you now a website that sells one?

i'm not too sure, and people, please correct me if i'm wrong, this is just my assumption.

you will need: full exhaust, air filters, turbos (have been recommended HKS GT2530), fuel pump, injectors, most probably camshafts, aftermarket ecu, boost controller, better front mount intercooler and oil cooler.

you might need: valve springs, retainers, oil sump (if planning track work), oil pump.

also, look at engine brace, because i have been told that over 500hp, the engine twists a lot and causes a lot of problem. certain parts of the chasis might need strengthening as well, someone might know better on this topic.

i think the standard internals should see 500hp, dunno how reliably though. buying an RB26DETT and modifying it might be cheaper in that you will not have to pull the engine out to modify it, but you still have to pull out the other engine at the end of the day, so don't think it's advisable, unless you've got heaps of money lying around.

and yes oil coolers are a must for these engines. driven hard in near winter conditions, temp around 15 deg c, my engine oil heats up heaps in about 10 mins. it's just one of the problems with GTRs.

try www.takakaira.com, they have all sorts of aftermarket stuff.

you may want to consider drivetrain weaknesses as well, before rushing out and just upping the power. i think the stopping power should be sufficient, but you might want to upgrade it as well. you can never stop fast enough.

Easy :P

Pod Filters

Turbo Back Exhaust

ECU (PowerFC)

600cc+ Injectors

Big Fuel Pump

Bigger Front Mount (600x300x100-ish)

Your choice of turbos:

HKS GT2510 - 500hp

Nismo N1 Turbos - 500hp

HKS GT2530 - 550-600hp

HKS GT2540 - 600-650hp

Those are rough figures (so don't all reply saying GT2510s can make 510hp), just so you get a feel for the comparative sizing of the turbos. Any of them will get you past 500hp fairly easily... Depends how much more than 500hp you want, and how much bottom end response you're willing to give up for the extra top end power.

Recommended ancillary upgrades to handle the power:

Twin plate clutch

Oil cooler

Brake upgrade (pads, braided lines, good fluid)

So i will need

1. Full exhaust

2. Ecu (power fc seems to be the favorite, with the boost

controler)

3. 600 cc/min Injectors

4. Fuel pump(?ltr/min)

5. Intercooler(600x300x100)

6. Oil cooler

7. Twin plate clutch

8. Brake Upgrade(size ?)

9. Engine braces

10. Race catalyst

11. Air filters

I would like to know the best brand for every component in the above list aswell as prices.Anythink else i must add to the list?

Is hks gt 2530 turbos a better matche for the rb26dett than 2535?(are 2535 more lagy?). I readed that the standart gearbox can take up to 600 hp.Is this true? The same goes for the engine internals? Do i realy need a new camshaft for the hp i aim?If i do, what duracion (degree) must i get? With allmost double power than standart shout i change the size of the whells? If so what size you recoment.

It would probably be a good idea to get some camshafts and wheels to get the full potential out of your new turbos, maybe some 264 degrees in and out, as for your engine holding together yeah it should, maybe you might want to buy a metal head gasket to lower compression if you want to be cautious

to produce(353rwkw)...all i did was got the standard t28 turbos hiflowed,780cc inj,motec,upgrade fuel pump,boost,intercool,single 75mm throttle body...but mind you i had the rb26dett fitted into my vl calais which ran a 10.8 @ 127 on 20 psi...

in my r34,i have

trust t517z turbos

power fc

660cc injectors

bosch 044 fuel pump

trust oil cooler

hks hiper exhaust

trust cam gears

im around 600hp.

dont bother with headgaskets or headbolts or even camshafts.

im even running standard cooler.

if ur chasing 350kw+at the wheels,u may need intercooler, but if ur aim is 300kw+ approx ,above is all thats required.

there is a heap more u can do,but unless your spending time at the track, theres no real point.

u can throw an extra $10k at it,may be more durable, wont go any faster.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
