I picked up my Rainbow splits today, and spoke to APS about what the best amp to drive them would be, for under $1k.

George showed me a Tru Technology beast, 4x100W, made in the USA.

Anyone had experience with Tru Tech stuff?

I did a search on SAU, not much mention - but on caraudioaustralia they have a good rep.

he told me your would do this... just buy the thing!

cleutin has the right idea. that thing will absolutely HAMMER! (and sound great doing it.)

Hehe, thats funny. When i asked him if Tru Tech had a web site, George got pretty passionate - he was saying just trust me! Are many Tru Tech amps floating around, or are they a rare item?

there are a few. that said they are somewhat rare. DAMN good SQ amp though. get that one set the speakers up properly and you could well have a trophy.

Oh wow.

By setup, you mean good sound deadening, (including the use of Dynaxorb behind the drivers), good positioning of the tweeter, and good tuning of the system?

I'm starting to wonder if my carputer soundcard may be the weak link in all of this, and might let me down with sound quality.

Cleutin u were right on the money there :D.

Trav as i said that amp retails at $1499. I am giving it to you for a $1000. Thats a darn good price to start with.

And TRU TECH i will stand by what i said, trust a specialist that knows what he is talking about :).

I was right about Rainbow, lets see if i can get 2 out of 2 :).

We use Tru-Technology amplifiers here and they come highly recommended by us. :)

If you're interested, I just tested and reviewed the TT Billet 4.75. The review is in the latest addition of INCAR magazine so grab a copy on the way to APS when you pick up your new TT amp - you will not be dissapointed (with the amp I mean)! :D

George, you haven't got another quiet week at work coming up have you???!!! :P

Also, i know you are going to run with some nice Rainbows in your Supra, will you use a Rainbow amp to drive them?

Oh and Trav I can always make time if u need something done.

Can you please post the measurements of the Tru Tech in your cabinet? ie width x depth x also the height.

I'd like to look at how i'll mount it, possibly vertically, but inset so it is flush with the vertical wall.

I know you can make the time.... but i gotta make the money first!

Do you know the "height" of the amp too, so i know how much i'd need to offset it for a flush finish? I'm guessing 44mm.

Nupe i will be speaking to the distributor to get me some of the latest Tru amps actually Trav .

And the Supra will be getting started a lot sooner than i thought.

Yeh good one Marty, take a bloody stab at me will ya aye .

Nah you misinterpreted my post. I meant he might be disappointed with my review but not the amp when he gets it off you. :)

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
