First off i would like to say thank you to every one for their replies to the problem i have posted for all to see my story resumes last week when i picked my car up from all star tuning at geebung i payed the money that was asked of me i asked if the cold starts where fixed he said he had started it up and it seemed to run fine but had warned me that something did not feel right about the car and that i might want to look at an rb30 bottom end soon as he said the engine was getting on in km but it was not something to worry about at the moment taking that at face value we went our seperate ways the car did indeed seem fine it handled just like it had done after picking it up the past couple of times lots of power tonnes of nm's nice and smooth went home went to sleep started the car up in the morning and what happened.......the same exact garbage that i had takin the car to have fixed in the first place revs dropping and stalling and this time there was even one heck of a flat spot in acceleration (thank god at least some truckies have good brakes)(when the car is warmed up these problems go away) .

understandably upset i did not call richard, after listening to the advice of this forum i took the car to another well known tuner, after a couple of minutes talking to him face to face i decided to leave my car with him over night for exactly and aggreed upon two hours work in the morning. that morning i recieved a phone call from the business owner asking me where i thought my high and low boost settings were at i told him 8 at low boost and 12 at high boost i also told him that the cops in my area frown upon speeding so i had not had a chance to test my car out. leaving the conversation there i decided to go and pick my car up (taxi driver are an odd race of people but i did notice his car had done 580,000kms which is cool i thought at the time.) arriving there i met the owner in his office and he proceeded to show me his dyno print out and compared it to that of all star tuning performance at geebung a number of f words were said he also told me i was not runing 12 pounds of boost on high boost i had been tuned to run 22 pounds of boost which even i know means suicide for my car (many ,many more f words!) he said the tune was not fixed completely but it was running far better now on 12 pounds and that i was lucky i had not pushed my car i was happy to know that 45 extra horse power had somehow found there way into my car and my nm's had the same story with a healthy increase.

i then asked him about the cold starts he said it was not fixed because he did not have enough time on the cold starts but there is a deffinate improvement in warm up proceedures (oh my god an honest mechanic?).

i then asked him if he had found the problem as to why start up was so bad and you know what he actually had an answer for me (shock horror) he said the tuner noticed the problem as soon as he started the car in the morning leaking injectors it turned out to be easily fixed and a heck of a lot cheaper to fix. he also comented on the state of tune of my haltech which he said was shocking 22 ponds through a ceramic turbo! when i only wanted 12.

... so goodbye allstar performance tuning at geebung :blush:

Hey viator, keen to share the name of the new tuner? I will need a good one in the next few months :blush:

As for Allstar.. LoL

My friend had a simular problem with them. Turns out they can not diagnose a mechanical problem for sh1t! They tuned my friends gtst with T04 turbo, Haltech ecu, custom plenum, bigger injectors, bigger exhaust (n a few more mods) and said that it was produducing about 160kw (from what i can recall) at the rear wheels.

Him n his mechanic knew there was something not right about this, because you can get more power from a stock r33 engine. It turns out that they did not know what was wrong with then engine, but still tried to tune it. The issue was, the teeth on the camshaft that connects the camgears was warn and made the camgears slip. A good mechanic/tuner would have been able to diagnose this.

After getting the camgear issue sorted out and getting it tuned by a propper tuner, the car produced around 400HP :w00t:

Its good to hear that your car is being looked after by someone who knows what thye are doing!

I have been trying to get in contact with him about the misfire in my tune... maybe its not such a good idea....

Im poor tho and cant afford to go elsewhere...

just gotta keep trying mate.. Viator is on the phone to them 24/7 so guess ya gotta have good timing

for someone thats got a new tuner he sure rings ATS alot... LOL

So funny hearing the REAL story too, guess this is the internet some people take it way too seriously...

but that said goodluck with your new tuner Viator, hopefully now richo n ron haven't got you taking up there time they can get back to people that wont waste there time.. Noy

They're pretty flat out there currently and we'll they need a couple extra mechanics eg 3rd year+ apprentices and full up to speed mechanics.. Then Richo can focus on sorting out the tuning and Ron can do the mechanical :thumbsup:

Its interesting to see the different views and experiences that come from all over the place and from different people. Its even more interesting to see the real lack of knowledge that exists (or doesn't exist for that matter) from some people.

I am very diplomatic when it comes to workshops about who produces good work and who does not. I say this because I am good friends with those who own/work at three different workshops around Brisbane so I hear views and opinions from people about all 3, yet i stay neutral. I have seen customers do the rounds to every workshop as they aren't "happy" and i will hear from the workshops the same view about that customer often.

All dynos read differently, all tuners tune differently, some are busier than others and some have no work. Would you go to a work shop who is constantly empty, and think to your self they must get their work in and straight out. Or would you choose a workshop who has cars in there constantly. I know for a fact that some cars will sit there not being worked on because as projects their current bill to the point has not been paid for. So just because something can not be done there and then when you want it doesn't mean you should come on the internet and bitch about it.

As for your stalling issue my friend, if you search around you will find that it is a common Nissan problem, not a Haltech problem (albeit yours could be). I know of a Nissan that doesn't have an after market ECU or a turbo and it does it constantly, will not rev when cold and will stall, will start and idle like a pig for a few seconds and when the clutch is pressed in when warm it will stall. Many people have had different theories - injectors, grounding, AFM, ICV, ISC, AAC, ERG. So do some research on it.

Regardless of what you think and your experiences, workshops that don't meet every single persons high expectations will not suffer, those who are happy with their work will continue to seek their expertise. I have seen it time and time again.

Yes, some people that come online portray very one sided views and there is always another side. So everyone should try not to get caught up in other peoples woes and decide for themselves and keep it too them self.

ur a tool. u take a car to a workshop when u have problems with the car, u tell them what the problem is and then they try and fix it. if they say its fixed then ud expect it to be running perfect, yeah? if not the owners got every right to jump up and down where ever he wants, cry winge watever, bottom line is the workshop who did the work, didnt do it properly and thats that.

I think you should have a look at yourself before casting judgement on others...

Im not kissing anyones butt, im being a fence sitter/moderator/mediator as I usually do. When a "workshop" thread arises I simplly point out every time that there is always to sides two a story. Also that for every bad story you hear there is usually a good one. Everyone has had a problem with someone along the line with their car. You too have had bad experiences with workshops that others trust. Its life, deal with it but there is no need to add fuel to a fire you didnt start.

As they say people in glass house's should not throw stones...

Why? It wasnt Allstar that claimed there was another side to the story. It was you. Back it up.

I am not taking sides on this issue. I have been around too long to think that any workshop regardless of how good they are will not have in house issues and or unpleaseable customers from time to time. In this case however the poster has been quite forward in stating his experience with this particular outfit and on face value it would appear his grievance is justified.

If you or anybody else is in a position to refute that It would do more good than harm .

And Shane...STFU. :)

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
