hey guys how are yas?

just gotta quick question that i need your help with, ok i am after a pod enclosure for my 33 gtst for my air pod.

i have spent some time doing a search and in one of the discussions the guy was talking about a full enclosure and a shield with no lid that partially covers the side of the pod and relies on the bonnet to be the top piece for the lid. he said that he did a temperature test and that there was no difference in having a full enclosure or a partial one,

could this be true?? could this really do the same job as a full box??

and also guys with having an enclosure do i diffenantly need a air intake that runs down to my front bar? or is it all right to just leave the open hole there left from the old piping as i have a front mount now? wil i definantly need the pipe running to my front bar or will there be enough air getting into there with out one??

thanks for the help...

oh really so you think that for street use there is no need to enclose the pod hey??

so you didnt notice any differance once you got a pod shield on hey??

not worth it you reckon??

does anyone else have this opinion??

so you think that it is very worthwhile, anyone else got any opinions on this??

yeh that is a great diy section hey. looks good to.

so does anyone have any ideas on if a closed box actually is better then an open lid one?

That shield is about $5 worth of heat shielding foam with some rubber edging on it.

But they have the stock cold air feed feeding air to the pod which is a good thing.

I'd stick with a fully box design. The idea is to keep the hot air away from the pod and make sure the pod only sucks in cold air from outside the engine bay.

The plans I posted up (they are my plans :) )cost me about $20 to make and it made a noticable difference with reducing heatsoak.

well i am stil gathering whether to make a full box design or just to do the side section of it and have the bonnet closed down on it as a lid,\

at the moment i am making my cold air intake pipe should be one the car tomorrow.

then i will go for the enclosure for it,

as i said earlier one guy on here did a test and the box design and the side section both had the same temperature results,

i didnt think this would happen as i thawt the box would be much better.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
