Yeah i learnt the hard way guys, no need to say any more about the alarm thing to me - maybe just to warn others who dont have an alarm, its not too late for them to get one.

I was aware that my car could be targetted, i never took it to elizabeth shops, or ttp, always took my girlfriends car.And thought it was ok in my driveway half a metre from the house, in burton - a new estate.

No probs whoring the thread, the SAU friendly chit chat is cool.

Why are skylines stolen generally - is it joy riders? or do they get stolen + rebirthed and sold?

I think it is lowlife scum who generally just want to have a good time.

However, it seems quite a few are stolen and driven around normally quite a lot - a few have been recovered with guys just driving them around as their daily and someone spotting them and taking action.

Needless to say they are one of the most fun cars around, and hence they are targeted.

Hope you get her back in one piece mate! And I hope you find out who stole it for some divine retribution.

both of you shutup. whoring soemone elses thread, for shame.

like u can talk Paul :)

You don't need an alarm, a kill switch and an emobiliser is plenty, I don't care if someone breaks in too much, as long as they don't take the car. Or take out some fuses, thats the cheapest emobliser.

:D

hope the car will turn up soon (minus the stereo etc)

No stereo - just a double-din hole, no amp, no subs, no speakers - the car was still a work in progress...

The waiting game is painful, not knowing where it is, and if i'll get it back...

if you dont get it back i really hope it doesnt turn you off another skyline just make sure the next one is FULLY alarmed 2 alarms even :) just being silly one is enough

for $540 i got my Viper alarm with 3way immobilizer works great if unsavory ppls are out side your house press the panic and they panic and leave

Rego WUO315. Please keep a look out, and phone police 131444 or 000 if you see it. I'd pay a big reward if someone caught the guy, and let me get to him before the cops.

Think I would beat the sh!t outta them too before the cops got to them. I would just say they fell over or something if anyone starts asking questions. Who are the police going to believe, the guy that just stole your car or the inocent victim. LOL

Hope it works out for ya dude. Just makes me so angry when i hear stuff like this.

The red skyline that robbed my soccer club was stolen, I hope these arent the same crew, although the cops caught the ones that did our robbery. seems as though a skyline is an easily stealable getaway car.

youll get it back buddy dont worry.

Thanks for the positive thought!

The red stolen skyline - do you know how it was stolen? ie, broken window, knocked out lock, etc?

Well I'm not sure, all I know is it was clean as hell, was red, had cold multi-spoke rims, and drove real slow as it exited our training field as it had stolen plates, but we suspected that it was their car just with stolen plates... the car got pulled over by the cops, they fled, they went into their flat or something and the cops caught them as they got back home or to their hideabout or whatever. I believe that was the story.

    • Shouldn't need a "base map" for anything other than guidance to ignition tuning. You just need the engine capacity right, the injector size right, and something, almost anything, for a VE map. On an NA engine, fuelling is almost completely a function of load signal & rpm. It should run and drive with a completely flat fuel map. It will be too lean under load, but that's easily fixed. We used to tune all ECUs without any base map. There were no such things (until someone had tuned a near stock engine on one, and then they had a "base map".
    • What did you actually buy/how much did it cost? When I got mine in like.. 2017...? 2019? the aim was to run Torque for gauges via ODB2 and things like Track Addict/Laptimers/Dashcam/Reversecam/Spotify etc. Mine never broke, but I wonder if you've got the same needs (it sounds like it). Cause I liked the idea of being able to do anything with it. That said, yours also cost 3x the cost of what I spent so... food for thought.
    • For me there is a massive difference in manufacturer or big brand crippled android (Sony, Kenwood etc) vs the sort of thing I've installed here, which is basically just a tablet in DIN form factor with open Android, and the other model of course is mirroring - Android Auto/Carplay. I hate the locked down manufacturer and AA options where they decide what apps I'm allowed to install, including the Launcher but also importantly things like Ecutek (for this car) or Real Dash (Stagea) are not supported. Plus those crippled versions tend to be slower due to both overheads and lower spec hardware. On the other hand, when this breaks I'll likely be in trouble for support....but how is that different to owning an Infiniti anyway
    • Yeah, Duncan is helping sell me back to Android devices. I've hated the whole Android head units due to their speed issues. Even in my old Hyundai Kona (2022 model), it behind the scenes was Android, and slow and shitty to start up. Once running wasn't bad, but still a good 15 to 30 seconds.
    • My roof rails are off atm on the E39 until the rust is fixed. I did find another little bit of surface rust under the rails when I took them off. As @soviet_merlin said I'd just leave them alone unless you're planning on ensuring they're properly sealed. I was on the fence about leaving them off as the delete is still a thing in BMW E39's but I feel like the car is missing something (er, it is, der) with them off and I'm looking forward to putting them back on.
