Hey everyone.

I didnt really know where to put this i just decided to stick it here. I seem to be having a little ant trouble with my car. They are all over the body of it and my guess is that they are walking up one of the wheels and the climbing up some how. I washed the car yesterday in the hope i would kill them all and then parked it in a different spot and they still seem to be hanging around.

Has anyone had a problem like this before?

Anyone know what i might be able to do? I just dont want to mess up my paint.

Al

They hang around because they like you. No not really.

They actually nest in the car. Happened to my pulsar when I had it.

They used to eat my chewing gum.

I'd go to have a piece of gum and it'll be all munched on already.

Just normal car wash. I cant tell you now cause its at home. Yeh i think they came up on the tires and then on the suspension.

My real worry is, do you think some sort of surface spray will damage my paint, especially cause its white and i dont want residue or shit on it.

I dont thik they are nesting in my car. At least i hope not.

hey mate ive never had an ant problem in my car before, but can tell you that these ant baits are probably your best bet, even over some sort of surface spray or similar...

Whenever I have an ant problem at home, I use Ant-Rid liquid formula.. looks and smells like honey... and basically wipes out the entire nest as the ants take it back to the nest with them...

the only thing with it is you will probably end up with a few ant carcasses here and there... I think the majority die in the nest, because I never seem to see as many dead ants lying around as there were feeding on the stuff... so this may be a problem if the nest is in your car..

anyways website -> http://www.antrid.com.au/products.asp

can be bought from most supermarkets..

good luck.

I had this happen not to long ago, removed some tree roots from under where i park my car then when it rained next it flooded the ant nest that had been using said root for flood protection. They were everywhere over the outside and in the engine bay. I used surface spray in the enginebay and on the wheels as for the bodywork everytime I went out for a cigie Id squish all the ants I could see. after about a week there was no more ants. And to stop them coming back a coverd my parking spot with ant-sand. Haven't had a problem since.

Hey guys,

I just found the next and there are shit loads of them. The nest is inside the passenger door. They seemed to have gotten in through the drainage holes at the bottom on the door and i am about to go jihad on their asses. Thanks for the help

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
