Just wondering, hopefully in the not to distant future i wanna mayb get a slide high flow and some injectors and it should push the car to 250 to 275kw.

Anyway my question is who has got that amount of kws already in a r33 series 2 skyline? because at the moment i can fill my r33 to the brim and i can get about 350 to 400kms to the tank in normal city driving. At the moment my car puts out around 200kws, so yer if i get 250kws + what can i expect a tank of petrol to last for?

Cheers

Adam

I am lucky to get much over 200kms per tank city driving for a series 1, you might get 250 - 300kms per tank...ultimately depends on how you drive it

damn!! only 200!! im deciding weather to do it or not because of the price of bloody petrol!

hmm it really depends hw it was tuned, wot size turbo, boost etc.. eg.. say u had a T04e turbo or a 2530 then it would make peak power in the mid range eg 4-5500 rpm etc.. if u used a bigger turbo it obviously make the peak power later on in the rev range, say 6500+..

the above is a very broad generalisation so dont quote me. if u had a smaller turbo, you wouldnt need to rev it so much to make the peak power therefore MIGHT get "better" economy out of smaller turbo since it runs out of puff after say 5500rpm or so.. therefore you wouldnt necessarily rev it past that range everytime.. where as if you had a large turbo which made peak power later on the range, you would NEED to rev it that extra rpm to get that power, thus putting more stress and using more fuel. get my drift?

The tune does have a lot to do with it...but so does your right foot. Even if you go for the slide high flow you will find yourself pushing into the power curve more often to enjoy the extra power and use more fuel. It is inevitable :woot:

haha true true! lol

but im reali just trying to get an idea of the fuel consumption just to see wheather for what i want the car for if its worth doing or not

R33 S1

I am getting around 350km @ 265 rwkw running really rich.. ( dodgy plenum leaning out a cylinder) will be over 400km per tank once new plenum and tune finished next week.

And thats being in boost quite a bit........ I could drive completely out of boost and get more!

I used to get 500km when I had 178rwkw.

it all depends on the tune, i have about 250rwkw and can get around 350km's to a tank with normal driving, unhappy with that so i'm going for a re-tune next week

ok stupid question, remember i dont kno much about turbo cars, when i get a tune done for it can i basically say to them look i want a mix of good kws and good fuel milage? or what?

how can you get that much fuel economy!!! how!? as i said im about 200kws and get 400 at the very very most

You dont hit boost :woot:

If you dont hit boost, economy is essentially the same regardless of turbo size.

Soon as you do get on boost though, it all changes as more power requires more fuel etc etc

ok i get that but when i go to boostworxs can i say to them look id lik a mixture between kw and fuel economy? or is that just a stupid thing to say? lol

When you know how to tune your own car and you tune it "right" you get good economy.

You also do some hwy driving as well right? that would help a lil!

I have about 283rwkws and i get about 300-330 out of a full tank.. thats with alot of city driving and a fair bit of boosting :woot:

    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
