So heres the deal, I have a spare $2k (due to friend paying me back) and I am not sure what to spend it on.

I figure I may as well spend it on the car given that I can't think of anything else I want right now.

Current mods are:

3" Turboback Exhaust

Pod

Turbotech boost controller

Thats it.

An FMIC is pretty much a given, either the Sliding Performance FMIC kit or the JustJap one (haven't decided yet)

After that im not too sure. I was thinking Fuel Pump and Slide High Flow but then I would be on the stock ECU which can't be all that good. So I thought maybe drop the turbo and get a PFC, but then am I really going to see much gains from a PFC given the stock turbo? And whats this I hear about PFC's being hard to come by these days? So yeah....pretty unsure about what path to go down. EVENTUALLY Ill want to get FMIC, High Flow, ECU, Fuel Pump, Injectors etc but I can't afford all those things for now.

So yeah, sugest a mod list priced at $2k or under (including labour)

Thanks for the help

So you would definetly sugest the ECU before the turbo?

If u got the coin, i would do it at the same time - Turbo install, ecu install Dyno + Tune hello xtra HORSIES.

Thats me but yeah thats what i would do

Alrighty then. I see the PowerFC at nengun for $800 odd, cheapest ive seen so far really. Was looking at a Bosch 040 pump but have been reading about some problems with it, so was looking at the Tomei or Nismo pump. What is a fuel pressor regulator and how important is it?

have u considered a set of poncams and gears? will get u noticible gains with a stock ecu.

Poncams and cam gears? he doesn't even have an a/m turbo, stock ecu. I reckon it'd probably go backwards in power.

I'd personally spend the money on food, but that's what I like

Is the PFC for an gts25t, as I know they've stopped making them for that model, weather they started production again is another thing... Nengun don't include the freight costs etc. to get you in, so it'd be more like $1100 if they actually have one.

Your best bet would be a slide standard hi-flow ($1000? maybe), Apexi safc ($300) and a genuine walbro pump($250) + tune ($200). I say this because if you get anything bigger than a standard hi-flow you'll be looking at more like 4k as you'll need injectors, afm, clutch, pfc+full tune and other little unexpected expenses. With the combination I mentioned you'll be able to get most out of your car with the money you have right now. Plus it'll be responsive and capable of producing 220rwkW+.

^ if you can get your hands on a power fc, then go from there.. (remember they stopped making them!! hense why the prices for 2nd hand ones are past 1.4k mark :D )

I suggest, you use your money wisely.

Hunt around for a power fc first. that should be 1.5k max

hahah your money is gone now..

It all depends what you desire. POWER? looks? Bit of both? style?

Maybe get a set of rims?

Checked nengun, and they dont sell power fcs.. so goodluck finding one for 800 :D

Also check if your stock clutch can handle the extra power once its all tuned etc..

So you will need more money there.

its a money pit dude.. 2k wont get you anywhere :D sorry to say.. thats if you want aftermarket ecu etc etc..

Spend 1k, and put 1k into savings!!

theres always litte things that will pop up!! good to have some savings

i'd recommend getting the FMIC and fuel pump (and Cold Air intakes to shield your pod if you dont already) and saving the rest until your ready for the next step - injectors, turbo and ecu.

you COULD get an ECU now, but then your up for a retune when you get your next upgrades.. if your definately upgrading again, i'd hold off the ECU for now until you can do the turbo/inj and ECU in one go.

edit: ahh yes, clutch.. once you add the FMIC and put some boost through it, if your not running an aftermarket clutch, you will be soon enough. between a FMIC, fuel pump, clutch, cold air intakes and the associated installation fees, you aint gonna have much of the $2k left.

Yeah Injectors, afm, clutch etc are not something I can afford at the mo. I was steering clear of a piggy back ecu mainly because everyone here seems to reccomend the PFC

Don't be too scared of piggyback ecu's, people always hate what they don't have. Sure they don't give excessive amounts of features and are not fully programmable but you don't need it. The stock fuel map just needs a little adjustment and the base ignition timing can be advanced as needed with the CAS (not the most accurate way of adjusting ignition timing but still works well :D ).

I have a PFC but thats because I do have after market injectors, afm, bigger turbo etc. And I bought one when they weren't extinct.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
