I've had my gtr since november last year and havnt been defected or pulled over for speeding, been pulled over once by a 'non traffic cop' and he said if he was a traffic cop i would defect you for your front suspention which i have no idea why, its miles away from the ground so i was just lucky he wasnt a traffic cop. Been through an alco station and nothing doing in there either. while back was 'cruising' down anzac with an unmarked cop 'cruising' next to me, just looking across at eachother, i was being sensible, they were checking out the car every chance they got but nothing, was accelerating from the lights as usual, sitting just above the speed limit (but so where they) and nothing. guess its just the luck of the draw really, they want to defect you, they will, no matter what, guess its just the cops ya get pulled over by and if they are in a good mood or not, not that that matters, they will probly defect you anyways.

^^ so true i got pulled over one night after spinning the wheels (in my GTS4) i proceded to tell him its AWD and they dont spin the wheels (least not mine) but he proceded to say dont argue i know what i saw, mind you i got pulled over after he witnesed a VN ROAR past me doing oh say almost 100 and some other heap of rubbish, suffice to say he let me go with a warning cause he asked me if i had been in any trouble with the law before and i said yes and he asked what... long story short he said if my story checks out he will let me go

Got waved through a defect station on rundle street few nights ago... the cop seemed friendly enough, asked me if this was a 34, if it was an awd gtr, i said yeah it's a 34 but just a gtt. he just said nice, checked that i had rego and let me go. A WRX and a convertible peogeot was pulled over before me and defected. so i guess it's just pot luck as to who gets defected.

Sorry to hear. Looks like you need to do a fair bit to get it back to stock which will be a pain in the arse. Hope it goes alright.

Yeah matty just read, sucks!

I was in an RBT few weeks back and the cop started going over my car, pointed out my rims and how they sit outside my guards - ws thinking i was done for then! So the cop just proceeds to tell me not to park next to gutters cos i wouldnt want to scratch them lol.

Guess i got lucky.

Been defected already in the skyline, week after i bought her, that was a pain i dont want to go through again!

I went through an RBT at the bay late last year on my way home from a karting dinner with my old man in th car. Was in my DR30. Drivers window wasn't working at the time so had to open the door very obviously revealing my half cage. My screamer pipe was leaking a little bit at the time as well. Car is pretty much low as you can go. Cop commented on the trophies on my back seat that i had won for my years racing. Let me go when the reading was all clear.

Just gotta be lucky sometimes.

My luck ran out last Thursday night when we drove up to Newcastle to see the Pasha Bulka.

A massive defect station was set up and hundreds of cars were checked. (I won't be too cynical and say they were primarily checking the mod'd cars cause I'm guessing you would have already gathered that was the case).

I have a relatively stock car - exhust, wheels, enclosed pod etc.

One cop was genuinely helpful and explained the what and why- he said if I had an engineer sign off on my wheels & pod and paid the $700 odd for a track noise test then I would be left alone. I have now decided to take this course of action as I won't be stopped cruising and doing what I enjoy!

However, the other cop (W*nker) asked "Why do we (modders) need to change a perfectly good car" " Did I know the manufacturers put a lot of design into the cars" Blah, Blah Blah.

I asked him if he bought Levi's jeans or shopped at Target. He got the message, but unfortunately I think this kind of cop is the majority in the Highway Patrols.

All I can say is if you want to modify your car do it, but be prepared to pay for an engineers report and lets beat them at their own game!

haha that aint always true.. i been pulled over several times, defected twice (once in skyline, once in my 05 lancer - yes they defected that lol). Tried tears and denial, still got defected lol

^ And it depends where and how she's driving. I've been on the road for 10 years now, in cars with various states of modification and never been pulled over for "inspection" once. I have been pulled into bretho's and let go too.. So just depends on 80% luck, and the rest common sense for driving I say.

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
