Fellas - an update!!!

Police are cracking it hard in the Richmond area... they were chasing my car down 2 streets but suddenly saw another sports car - WRX with a very very loud exhaust and thought they'll defect him instead... I moved on of course but looked back and saw the poor guy being questioned for things in his engine bay... defect on the way, I think... damn, not going there no more.

Guys, anywhere in VIC that you drive, it's highly likely you will be pulled over and defected for something, even if you just left your mechanics and there's a R/W certificate in your glovebox. Can you please keep this thread to notifications of actual defect station/booze bus setups (I'm only including booze buses caus of the risk of a defect there also).. including exact place and approx time you saw it ON the day.. a few days later isn't much help either, so not much point posting it.

That would be super helpful, cheers guys :(

  • 5 weeks later...

Location: Bundoora - Plenty Rd, heading North, before Settlement Rd, near Officeworks (not sure about South)

Time: 8:40pm Fri 3/8

Alternative Route: High St, Western Ring Rd, Waterdale Rd, back streets

Targeting: Alcohol & Drug testing, not sure about defects as they had just finished setting up the signs and buckets and had all disappeared.. best to avoid it just to be sure

Finish Time: had just setup so will be going til around 3am I'd say

  • 7 months later...

just got defected on Dalton Rd Epping after getting breatho'd.. cnuts.

Fortunately I'm a well spoken, polite female, so it could have been much worse but still.. don't really have the time for this sh1te atm!!

So anyway Dalton Rd near the Childs Rd roundabout.. they're around a corner so you don't see them til its too late.

6/3/08 9:30pm+

Edgars Rd and High st are both clear at present.

Bus set up the last few weeks both mid week and weekends:

North Road Caulfield South / North Brighton

Right near Nepean Hwy, opposite BP near Panasales.

Never seen defect's beeing handed out, but have seen a rather large littering of cars there the following morning a couple of bombs with yellow stickers on the windscreen.

    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
    • The hydrocarbon component of E10 can be shittier, and is in fact, shittier, than that used in normal 91RON fuel. That's because the octane boost provided by the ethanol allows them to use stuff that doesn't make the grade without the help. The 1c/L saving typically available on E10 is going to be massively overridden by the increased consumption caused by the ethanol and the crappier HC (ie the HCs will be less dense, meaning that there will definitely be less energy per unit volume than for more dense HCs). That is one of the reasons why P98 will return better fuel consumption than 91 does, even with the ignition timing completely fixed. There is more energy per unit volume because the HCs used in 98 are higher density than in the lawnmower fuel.
    • No, I'd suggest that that is the checklist for pneumatic/hydraulic adjustable systems. I would say, based on my years of reading and complying with Australian Standards and similar regulations, that the narrow interpretation of Clause 3.2 b would be the preferred/expected/intended one, by the author, and those using the standard. Wishful thinking need not apply.
    • Yes they do. For some maybe. But for those used the most by abusers, ie Skylines, the numbers are known. The stock eyebrow height for R32/3 Skylines is about 365/375mm or thereabouts. The minimum such heights are recorded in adjacent columns in the database.
    • Hmmm, interesting. Makes me wonder whether there is bias as well. It's the cheapest fuel, so it is used for all kinds of ill-maintained shitboxes which are bound to have issues regardless. Nicer cars tend to require higher octane rated fuel and can't use it anyway. FWIW, the official NSW E10 facts page is decent.
