i have an r32 with an rb25 gearbox and my speedo doesnt work... but untill i get it fixed the speed sensitive steering is pissing me off!! because there is no "speed reading" the steering is soft as then after about 30 secs the steering goes hard as a rock... does anyone know where the sensor is located for this or how it works?? i know it must be somewhere between the speedo cable and the tacho... although i may be wrong...

thanks leigh.

nah defiantely not!! when the speedo works the steering is fine.. then when the speedo doesnt work it is fine for a couple of minutes of driving then goes hard...

what caused your speedo to not work??

mine stops because of the gear in the gearbox on the pinnion assembly...

i know for a fact that r32 have this "speed sensitive steering"...

maybe mine doesnt work at all... and im used to not having it, its not that bad either way.

my speedo didnt work cause i just did the rb25 swap and hadnt sorted out the drive yet, now that i have it all works, hooked up the speed signal to the ecu as well. hasnt changed the steering tho

speed sensor is built into the back of the speeo itself, the cable mechanism actuated the sensor as well.

no speedo and you will have the fault.

hicas computer controls the power steering solenoid as well, don't have one the other doesn't work.

do a hicas diagnostic and see what is borked.

james.

Had the exact same problem when my speedo cable broke on my 32. Replaced the cable, problem solved. Cables are $80 from nissan. It runs from behind the dash clustter down through the fire wall and into the gearbox. Not sure about a 32 with a 25 in it though...whether you need a 33 or 32 cable. or even if a 33 uses a cable..?

all good i have orded a new cog from nissan so i will just have to put up with it untill i recieve it.. just thought there might be an easy way to get around it while i wait... i guess not, thanks for the help guys.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
