Nozila
hello guys/girls recently ive got some splits for the front of my car. now im considering to get either rear speakers - 6" or go with getting another pair of splits. My question is weather this is a/ worth it considering that i wont be sitting in the back b/ go ahead as for the price of 6" depending on its brand can get you some resonable splits - again depending on its brand Taking into consideration that in the near future im getting a sub also - anyone in adelaide selling one that is boxed, 11" >. so if i do get splits [highly likely] would this distort the sound that a sub produces considering the splits midrange is pretty bassy itself or would the splits in the rear would require no sub at all. oh btw im still getting high pitched noises from my front splits even when all my wires are insulted/twisted and cables earthed. can someone help explain this reason. thanx. hippy
the speakers that i got are perfectly clear ... admitly my installation skills are pretty bad so the install is pretty shocking hehee but it works ... anyways check that ur gain is set to the lowest setting on the splits ... i'm also currentl lookin at 6" speakers for the back ... so yeah we should go shopping sometime Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/17452-car-audio/#findComment-361241 Share on other sites
Nozila
front splits are clear is only when the engine is running that you can slightly hear the squeeling. anyways, speaker shopping sounds like a good idea. group discount consisting of two people [u and me]. haha. lowest setting on splits - i cant adjust my spilts, well i dont think so anyways unless you mean by adjusting gain through the amplifier. I need more bass! =( Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/17452-car-audio/#findComment-361542 Share on other sites
hippy
well my splits has a setting where u can control the frequency cutoff or the gain .. i can't remember ... but yeah gotta go speaker shopping soon .. i don't wanna spend any more than about 100 on back speakers .. Nozila
a little side track here but have you notice that its you and me who are interested in car audio in adelaide. all other adelaide skyline owners on here are performance enthusist. just my observation. may be their car audio is exhuast/bov/screamer pipes?. haha Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/17452-car-audio/#findComment-362098 Share on other sites

Nightcrawler
hey I'm interested too .... just have been sitting back watching .... I have DLS 6" splits in the front of my line with Alpine 10" sub with box in the rear - all driven by a 400Wrms Boss amp hidden under the drivers seat. Of course have the JVC MP3 deck running the show. I'd recommend not to bother with rears, but just put in a sub like I did - save your rears money toward a good amp - it will pay off big time in the end. I have always until now had rears but don't miss them at all now! btw if you're gonna go to Strathies go see Paul at Blair Athol, tell him you're a mate of Andrew Nuskes (if he doesn't recognise my last name say Derek Ahearns cousin) and he'll look after you. hippy
hehehe ... well my cousin works for strathfield too .. but i'm not too sure strathfield has anything good ... but they have dvd players for 90 bucks!! .. is that cheap or what?? hehehe ... anyways i think strathfield has some kenwood and clarion stuff which is ok i guess .. but for cheap stuff u can't beat them hehee ... hippy
i think back ones u dont' really need realy good ones ... just something a little better than the stock ones which are old and have been ruined by long life ... and andrew(nightcrawler) is right!!! a good amp makes a hell of a difference ... which is why i'm saving for an eclipse amp ... my shitty pioneer one doesn't even make close to the power that the 15" sub needs LOL Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/17452-car-audio/#findComment-362766 Share on other sites
Steve
Can only agree with what others here have said, you listen to your front stage, spend the money there. Hippy - 15" my you have a big one Mel, where is the store you work at? do they often get good deals? I am after an 8-10" sub (not as greedy as hippy) and an amp to drive it Also, is it worth going second hand, always seems to be heaps of guys selling the stuff on this forum? hippy
well yeah i've been told by others that 15" is pretty big .. but hey u either got them or u don't ... but yeah i bought some focals at the front ... which sound quite good now ... if i remember correctly u had mb quart ... which i didn't get a chance to listen to last time ... i'm still sourcing a head unit from america .. can't decide whether to go with a nice looking jvc or a just as good alpine but dont look as good as jvc ... but yeah never buy pioneer car audio unless its the head unit ... they are just shite .. I actually prefer the sound of tight 10"s, there better if you listen to dance music and stuff with a quick beat. I work between alternate stores, Tea tree gully and wayville Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/17452-car-audio/#findComment-362875 Share on other sites
Steve
Yes they are MB Quart - good memory. Tough to know what to buy isnt it? Soooo many choices, and can only get one tho I reckon best bet is put most of the money into the amp and speakers Always seems the best time to buy though is when they do an end of model run out. So Mel, whats up with moving you around like that - do we just have to ring up on the day to see where your at? Oh and is there discounts available for SAU members:D Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/17452-car-audio/#findComment-363035 Share on other sites

Guest Miss_Nismo
Well it really depends on what you want, if things are already heavily discounted then obviously I can go down heaps more, but other things i might be able to knock $100 off so you really need to come see me so we can work out what you want then what i can do for you I am at the Tea tree gully store tomorrow, probably at wayville store the week after.
