hey guys, i was talking to a mate in the business and he told me he had a fair few external hard drives that he can get in.

he said he'd cut a deal for my mates (sau members) if we can get numbers up on orders as he has to do them on a bulk buy kind of thing through his supplier.

they come from 80gig to around 500gig (and i think 750gig) and range from $120 for the 80gig to $240 for the 500gig.

they are all seagate SATA drives and come in a choice of 2 covers. ill get pics once he's got them.

as for prices i dont know if theyre good or not so thats why its an eoi.

so... express your interest.

cheers,

joe

ok prices are in:

80g - $120

160g - $140

250g - $150

320g - $160

400g - $200

500g - $240

750g - $360

the 750g is apparently hard to get but if there is enough interest he'll get them in.

are they actual external HDD's? or just internals put into a case?

Im after 1TB external HDD (yeah i know they just chuck 2 500gb HDD's in a WG case) i know WestGate make them... can he get those in?

Otherwise i might go 750gb depending if its an actual External HDD, as in made to be external...

Also, any pics?

internals put into cases. thats how theyre all made mate.

ill ask if he can get a 1TB but when we were speaking he said that 750 is the biggest he had.

why not throw 2x750 and get 1.5TB :D

pics will be up soon.

lol when i say external or internal, i mean an actual brand name HDD made to be external, like ive got a maxtor one, and it was built to be external, where an internal one in a case, im not too sure if i trust 100%

I might still go 750gb, its pretty cheap... are they sturdy cases?

all external hard drives are internal drives thrown into an external case. im pretty sure of that. otherwise they wouldnt be so big.

the cases look pretty good.

pics:

they come in 2 styles. he said he MAY be able to get others but hes not 100% on that.

yeah a hard drive is a hard drive, but the ones that are made to be external are abit more solid to protect the HDD and most have there own security settings...

If a TB is available let me know otherwise ill prob go a 750gb

postage is around $12 express.

i order these as i get them mate. i may end up making this a group buy if i get too many orders, but for now ill take them as they come.

USB 2 and Firewire?

the prices quoed are USB only. to get the cases with both will be $15 ontop of the prices quoted.

i was doing this on the basis of being cheaper for you guys.

yeah i want Firewire? are these firewire?

as above.

Can i use one of these for my xbox old boy???

sorry mate ive got no idea about the compatibility of these with the xbox.

What power source is available? USB off pc/laptop or external?

Interested in a 320g with USB and firewire :D

the power source is external mate.

let me know if you're interested as this will soon be a group buy.

can i buy just the external case by itself?

thanks

pm sent.

    • Can't you put the pistons to TDC and then do the valve seals? Or will the drop down too far to pull them back up?
    • One thing I can tell you is, do it properly the first time. If you encounter unexpected problems just let the car sit for a week or two if you have to get some other parts or figure stuff out.  I'd have said go and use as many OEM parts as possible but since you want to change the turbo later on a custom kit is probably the better choice. Since I have no experience with RB25 just compare parts diagrams and images before buying a line kit and it should be easy to see if it has everything you need. Amayama has very good parts diagrams and part number lists, that is what I used a bunch to figure out what I might need. And don't forget to plan ahead and possibly renew other stuff that's easy to get to while you're in there doing the turbo lines. Happy wrenching
    • Update 4:   Hi all, good news. Engine is running and all the gaskets and seals seem to be working as intended. No leaks so far, even the JB Weld seems to hold. I flushed out the old coolant a few times and put in fresh coolant, not Nissan stuff, I decided to try the Ravenol Protect FL22, they claim it works for a wide variety of JDM cars and the opinions on it by some people were pretty good. And it has the nice poison green color! And man am I glad I bought a coolant system tester earlier this year, vacuum filling works wonders on this engine. I can definitely recommend this to anyone still doing it the old school way. All you need is compressed air supply. Will have to do a small test drive as soon as I can, I removed the gauge cluster again as the tacho needle was still bouncing around a bit but it was much better than before already.  I also found some cracks on all 4 tires inner and outer sidewalls. Apparently these tires should 't be parked on for extended periods or be kept under 0 degrees during storage, which I did not know. Clearly the previous owner didn't look into those details either, he probably bought them just cause they are cool semi-slicks. I'm just wondering how tf I am supposed to reach 30-80 degree tire temperatures on the public road consistenly, these tires were never going to work for my use case. I'll probably order Continental SportContact7 ones as these are the best allround summer tire available right now and I don't think I'll need anything crazier for now. Do let me know if you have experience with various tires and which ones you recommend.
    • You have no idea how many goddamn boxes I received these past three months haha Most have been put to use by now though, luckily
    • Not going to pretend I didn't do a bit of junky work this time around, but mostly due to the fact that some things I am not willing to spend days fixing right now, like wiring. I try to do most things properly the first time around.
