Given there is no car on the HPI drag list that comes close to that 60ft

and we are talking 8 second cars on street drag radials this seems very strange.

http://www.hpi.com.au/drag_records.php

There are cars doing 1.3's in the world but none on true street tyres that I know of !!

The all use drag radials and a good 1000 to 1500 hp !

I mean no offence but I think you gotta look at this logically.

If true this could be some sort of world record.

So let me get this correct Butters, you claim the car is 1000-1500rwhp and must be on drag radials at least? I think by the photo's we can clearly see they aren't any big flash drag slicks on there.

I will let RockoGTR come on here himself and maybe he has a couple of photo's that clearly show the car was on Nexen street tyres, just as it was sent over with. He will be putting slicks or drag radials on it next time, then hopefully the box will hold together and it should go quicker.

This car is DEFINITELY NOT 1000-1500rwhp either, it was nowhere near that.

I will let him no it might be a record and he can inform HPI and show his time slip and join the ranks

Also bear in mind this car still has full interior and is a comfortable daily drive.

I don't want to be taken out of context on my comment above so please allow me to clarify.

I think there is something being done differently to most every other GTR that goes to the drags in some department. Whether it's just a perfectly balanced launch from an outstanding driver or some tricky suspension settings, it's incredibly rare to see a 1.3x 60' time from any street GTR and it's especially rare for it to happen on streeters.

I'm not doubting the tyre choice at all when I say that I reckon there's more to it.

Great job though.

The car is extremely well set up from good suspension, good HKS exhaust, good turbo choice for the car, good tune, good driver etc. There is no NOS or any "secrets" on the car and I am sure Jeff would be happy to show anyone. We aren't trying to claim this figure from a stock car and we never mentioned suspension set ups etc... even tho the suspension isn't anything over the top or expensive. It doesn't have coil overs or anything.

There is no denying the figures, its just a very well set up car that anyone with any knowledge could build on what is not a huge budget.

As I am not the guru on the car or a mechanic I think between Jeff, NIB and RockoGTR they can answer all your questions. Pity they are all holidaying or away working.

I don't mind being taken out of context ... seems to always happen on the net lol

R31 Chick you need to take this less personally, are you his girlfriend ?

I am sorry I believe with a 1.3 60ft if he puts on drag slicks he will not go stuff all quicker.

Did he manage to run another pass with a simular 60ft or is this a once off ?

I'd be keen to see it backed up at another track like willowbank If he does its quite an acheivement taking down the likes of keir wilson and theo woollett to the 60ft !!

He just sneaks into tenth place on HPI list, so well done on that !

Nope, I am his ex. Things do go out of context and being Steve's daughter I know this all too well. As my brother built the car is probably why I jump to its defence.

The car will be at Willow Bank soon. There is video footage of the car in rear wheel drive smoking 4th although Jeff hasn't sent it to me yet which will prove the tyre debate.

    • Not sure the US can import anything other than the C34 Stagea's, but if you can and you need to to tow, DO NOT under any circumstances get an M35 Stagea. If it is just as a family car and your country/state allows it, absolutely and definitely get an M35 (3.5L if possible as it is effectively a 350Z) over a C34.
    • Punch your VIN (nm35-xxxxxx) into Amayama.com You can see everything there quite easily.
    • Thanks for that, I'll check it all out. I can always do the brakes last anyway if its a problem.  The 16's are super cool, if they do fit I'll cruise around with them for a bit.
    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
