Just think of it this way...

now they have talked to you and know your name, you may be less interested in doing something silly

you you might have done if you didnt think they would know your name and address.

Maybe they did you or your 30 mates a favour....

Ah pipe down they were doing thier job, your 15 and the world is against you. I wouldnt worry.

When your old enough to own a house or have possessions of any worth, you'd care that this was being done aswell.

And yes, they are allowed to ask you questions. You dont have to answer, but you must give you name and address i believe.

Well actually you dont even have to give your name and address unless your driving.

Legally the police are allowed to search you and take down details under the following circumstances.

1) They have reason to believe you are carrying an illicit substance or concealed weapon or have been involved in a crime

2) You agree to it

3) They have a warrant.

The following by themselves are not legitimate reasons:

1) "Increasing crime in the area"

2) The time is 3am and your walking on the street.

3) You are driving a defective vehicle

4) You are not of anglo ethnic origin

5) You are wearing clothes including a hoodie that are cheap, not washed, and "typical" of criminals

6) You looked at them funny

but mayb theres something your not telling us

Yes they do under circumstance.

Under circumstance Police have the right to ask you to identify yourself.

By giving your name and address, or alternatively showing ID.

Crimes Act 1958

Section

456AA. Requirement to give name and address

(1) A member of the police force may request a

person to state his or her name and address if the

member believes on reasonable grounds that the

person—

(a) has committed or is about to commit an

offence, whether indictable or summary; or

(b) may be able to assist in the investigation of

an indictable offence which has been

committed or is suspected of having been

committed.

(2) A member of the police force who makes a

request under sub-section (1) must inform the

person of the grounds for his or her belief in

sufficient detail to allow the person to understand

the nature of the offence or suspected offence.

Like i said in my earlier post, they would have taken ur details to help them in any future investigations. So in this case it comes under Sub-section 1 (b) and by informing you about the increased crime in the area the officer has satisfied Sub-section 2.

;)

ok so basically according to GTR STEALTH's post, they are allowed to take your details.

They would've taken mine anyway because i didn't have any id (and still dont).

Taso84 is this research or what you THINK is right, i think i know which one, and also stop assuming that there isn't something that i'm not telling you. If you're trying to imply that i am a young criminal i'm pretty sure that i wouldn't be posting on here where the police could find me through my ip address etc.

What GTR stealth said is true, what i was trying to iterate was that they cant ask u for no reason, like general crime, there has to be a specific offence that u could assist with the investigation.

    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
