This day seemed to be a GT-R convention... how many were there?

Dino,

You think having to work is a bummer... try going to the track and not driving... now that is the hardest thing I have ever tryed to do... so hard that I had to go out for 2 sessions and have a bit of fun.

Benm,

If your not useing opposite lock than you are taking it WAY to easy!!! lol. some good laps though mate for your first time on the track... good to see that the new guys were into car presevation and driving sensibly. Remind me to take you for a spin next time Ben.

Akira,

No probs for the tips... duncan and I were talking about it around lunchtime and saying that the tips we give are not necessarily the right way to do things... but they are the way we do them. As Duncan said... your car is an absolute beast! and don't forget that I offered to look after it for you first!

Look forward to the next one guys and keep the pics coming. did anyone catch the last group A and B sessions?

Dan.

Most memorable moment....well it would have to be following the Formula Ford into turn 1 at 180km/hr only to find out that my skyline doesn't have the ability to handle a REALLY late turn in. My personal thanks to the track designers who allocated ample runoff between turns 1 and 2. Without them I would no doubt be part of the wall.

Oh, and another thankyou to my missus for doing the laundry later that night. Without her I would still have badly soiled jocks.

To all that attended, I hope everyone had a great day, I sure did. To those who missed out, get in early for the next one. It has to be the best way to truely experience what your skyline can do ( without attracting excess police attention ).

Now, who is working on the official "SAU - Team Trackday" long sleeve t-shirt?

Monday was the first time in my life I have driven that fast for that long (which is why i was so keen to try a trackday out in the open). Just when I started to push myself (and the car whilst catching a Ferrari :P) I lost my brakes. Next Trackday i'll have new tyres and new brake fluid and want to knock about 4sec off my lap time.

What about getting some SAU Team Trackday emblems designed and made in to stickers for your helmets? :)

I take it at some point SAU clothing will be organised? You could even make a whole badge award scheme, like Cub Scouts, you could set criteria for earning badges and the like... :):P

I'll have two shirts also... one for summer and two for winter!!!!

Benm,

Yeah... brake fluid can really suck... but I'm glad to see you had a great day... and scored some quite reasonable times considering that it was your first ever time at those speeds and you only got 3 sessions... I remember the first few trackdays going into turn 1 and thinking "my god... if I loose it at this speed I'm history..." Thanks must go to Zane for proving that you can loose it at 180km/h and still drive away.

Of the 3 people who were cool enough to take me for some laps, one went spinning off the track at Corporate Hill (turn 8).

Guess who was asking me for tips?:P

Moral of the story, benm was fortunate our paths did not cross. I would have had you off in the ruff stuff within 5 laps.:burnout:

    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
