Can anyone explain how the fuel door works on the 350 GT (2003 model). Sometimes mine (rarely) flicks open when the remote is used and other times it remains locked and I have to get to the lock throught the boot to release it.

Also has anyone had troubles with the driver's power window and central locking?

Body Control Module- it operates 90% of the car - if something is out of kilter then things stop working. inputs are resistive on these so if the input (IE switch ) stuffs up - no worky.

Can you let me know more about the BCM - how to find out if it is faulty, do you replace it or can it be fixed or reprogrammed, is it a common fault, where is it? Thanks

Hey guys,

This is going to sound REALLY odd. But I had exactly the same thing, I'd lock my doors and my fuel cap door would pop out. My fix: I switched on the mirrors tucking in when the car is locked. It no longer pops.

Freaky, eh?

My fuel door must be faulty as it will not lock when the car is locked.

There's a little solenoid which drives a plastic lock that engages with a catch in the fuel door to lock it. Locks when the rest of the car is locked. Look just inside the door and on the left you'll see the mechanism.

Apparently it is quite common for the solenoid to die - the one in mine was dead. From what I've heard fairly easy to replace if you can source a replacement solenoid.

Those who were having trouble with the door popping out - could be due the catch that engages with the lock on the fuel door being mis-aligned. Check if the catch on the door is bent or twisted in any way.

Chris - the winding up of windows when the car is locked - are you saying this can be programmed by the dealer on any V35? Or is it dependent on a sensor being there as well?

depends - have seen dealer fitted units that do it. unsure if it can be done via consult3. I'm working on this one anyway as I want to do a snazzy alarm on one and close everything with a push of a button.

any one got fast for a V36 yet?

Mine can...... bummer....

As I said in my post - busted solenoid actuator...

This is what you need, first part on the list since it looks like you have a Coupe (I think...):

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...amp;catalogid=1

Riverside Infiniti was one of the better places to source V35 parts though I gather the guy who was really helpful has left so maybe find another dealership. They all seem to use the same parts catalog system so shouldn't be too hard to locate this part again. In any case make sure you check that it is the correct part before ordering!

Or just source it thru Nissan...

well, kptechnologies (http://www.kptechnologies.com) make a unit that has been made specifically for the G35 to do just this

go to their website, go to products, then select "wondow roll-up"

they sell it for USD$50

not sure if it can be integrated into our car due to wiring differences between G35 and V35 but i'll throw it out there for those interested..

KP Technologies also do a unit which dips the side mirror(s) when you put it into reverse - tempted to get that and the window roll up unit... Though I should just build one myself, wouldn't be hard to do with a small micro...

my mirrors dip already when i put it into reverse, i think its combined in the reversing pack with the camera :P

although interstingly, when chris had my camera disconnected for a while, the mirror dipping still worked.. maybe there is a separate control module or its already got the provision for it as standard on the V35?

this was never an option for the G35, thus why KPtechnologies has made that module for them..

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
