benm
Dave this is the intersection in question (center of screen). The couple were heading left to right turning down the screen and the "hoons" were heading right to left. http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&hl=...c=addr&om=1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/178629-commodores-strike-again/page/4/#findComment-3265254 Share on other sites
gts-4 dreamer
smh had another one this morning.. hell if i remember but was much weaker than that. ahhh i was thinking the other side of queens st. Man I know that intersection well. its 80 just down the road... (left). that is a huge intersection.. its well lighted, traffic lights are pretty efficient and useful... its well spaced... they must have been booting it from the last set of lights its a fairly straight bit of run.. cops love to sit just after those lights because its 60 for about 80m then its 80 and people got straight to 80.. classic revenue collection point. man... i used to cut around that set of lights allot going to uni.. that little left they were taking is the back way around all the major lights to get down to the bridge and across the freeway to st clair.. my ol burb. they were smashing it that early of queen st... hell they proly saw it going yellow an she did to, they werent expecting her to come across with them booting it an she didnt check that oncomming traffic an wollop.... most people boot it OFF that intersection not into it... its not small.... if they had of looked 1 set or the other in their respective directions they would have avoided it. they were both sets in plain sight of each other.. you cant see it but there is a slight bend and the "racers" were pointed directly at the oncoming trafic.. the old couple would have been pointed at them directly... dead set they would have had to be starring at each other... unless the old couple just hooked it at the last second...... Lachlan33
I saw that to. Once again the cops are demonstrating a complete lack of respect. These people went to a legal event. Having cops sitting outside the gates may catch a bunch of modified cars and such, but its going to deter many people from going there in the future, so they will just do it on the streets. Seems to be like they just wanted to be seen doing something good. One important thing to note in that story is the sentance 'police outside working with undercover officers inside' Excuse me? They had undercover police officers INSIDE the venue? The story was about them getting speeders as they left right? So what purpose would having the cops INSIDE do? Sounds to me like they were checking out who was running POD filters and big intercoolers and taking down their plates for defect reasons. This just seems like such a dog act that is going to acheive NOTHING for relationships between 'hoons' and cops. And the whole 'braking so hard the rear tyres exploded' thing demonstrates exactly why the media is so good at talking up such crap. ALL of us know that the tyres didn't explode. But your average joe is NOT going to know this, and will think 'wow he must have been going fast, what a hoon". This sort of crap always gets me SO fired up. I always used to defend the cops but these days I am just so pissed at their actions. Ive never been fined for anything I will add, but I still feel bad for people who cop fines for POD's and all that crap. I just love how all the 'illegal mods' are just illegal because....well just to make them money. Exposed pod will do what exactly? That crap about oiled pods catching fire is just plain poor science. No pod has ever caught fire....ever. The flashpoint of oil is over 200 degrees C. If your engine bay has that much heat in it, your going to be having far more problems then a burning pod. The stock airbox would have long since melted into a blob. benm
I thought it was you joe. I left wsid at 9:15pm and drove the entire length of the GWH to penrith which included going through the intersection of the fatal crash (looking for cheap petrol, didn't find any) and didn't see 1 single copper. I also didn't see any cops at the roundabout as seen on the news which I always lookout for because it's a known hiding spot so maybe they got there abit later than 9:15pm (most people would leave at 9:30-10ish I assume. scathing
Yeah , how dare u question Wade Watson One of the news articles says he's 20, which would make him a P plater right? And we all know P platers are driving gods that know everything. In fact, didn't the NSW government, RTA and police force just single out drivers his age for special mention? :laughing-smiley-014: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/178629-commodores-strike-again/page/4/#findComment-3266108 Share on other sites

What piss-poor excuse for a motorcycle or rider would that be if a Magna can keep up with it to 120km/hr? Seems to be like they just wanted to be seen doing something good. Its the "in" thing to do. The Victorian mobile tax collectors pulled a similar move outside Drag Tag at the beginning of the year. And yeah, I generally used to defend the conduct of cops. I've gotten done for speeding a few times, and while annoyed and thinking that in at least one case I could have been let off with a caution (doing 20km/hr over the limit on a highway at 3AM, in a straight section of well lit road, with good visibility) they were all dead to rights. I didn't like it, but I didn't think it was unjust. However, camping outside events designed to get drivers off the road and into sanctioned events is just low. If people were caught actually racing outside the event, f**k them over. But people who might be doing 10km/hr over the limit, or limping their cars home after the event in a "letter of the law" non-legal state but "spirit of the law" compliant state just sucks. Especially if they're parts people can easily remove to return the car back to a street legal condition (I'm specifically thinking of worn DOT-legal semi slicks). Well there are a couple of different ways of looking at it. Poor journalism. Poor policework. Now obviously the police were going to do something high profile with the media in tow. I guess labelling as hoons those responsible enough to do the right thing & go to an organised, legal event is the quickest/easiest & cheapest thing to do. Part of the problem is the media who know how much mileage they get out of "hoon" stories. So you will see rubbish like that in the Daily Telegraph not to mention some of the more grown up papers. Part of the problem is the lack of resources on the police side forcing them to do what is expedient instead of what is right. But mostly it is laziness on behalf of all those involved which means they have neither the intellect nor the imagination to understand that you can be a car enthusiast without wanting to drive like an idiot on public roads. scathing
The NSW Police Commissioner now wants to crush hoons' cars, US style. And if you have a look at the other spate of "street racing" incidents mentioned, the cars are Pulsars, Charades and a Camry.....none of which are on the banned list. The only car possibly banned, a 300ZX, was the victim.
