Hi All,

I am looking at putting a td-06 25G high mount with external wastegate on my 34 soon and am wondering whether i should gone down a different path or not.

The mods on my car so far are:

Blitz twin plate clutch

Blitz front mount

Walbro Fuel pump

Pod filter

AVCR boost controller

PFC (not installed yet)

550 cc injectors (not installed yet)

Future mods before turbo:

260 degree Cams

Cam gear

oil cooler and remote oil filter

Looking for 250 - 300 rwkw.

Just want to see peoples opinions.

Looking for response more than out right power as i am not planning on doing a rebuild in the near future.

Otherwise i would be going down the path of a t04z and chasing over 400 rwkw, but i want to use this as a street car and the occasional track and drag day at this point.

Thanks MADGT4 for your response as there is one in the for sale section i am looking at purchasing but didnt know whether it was a good idea or not.

What size housing is the turbo your looking at?

But i cant speak from experience though only from what i hear/read so i would possibly try and find someone that has a similar setup or better knowledge of the turbo.

At the end of the day from what i know though it is an ideal turbo for the 25!

td06-25g probably isnt the most responsive of the turbo range but makes up for it in power delivery i guess, try a gt30 or a 3037s for more response. I am a BIG fan of the td06-25g's so i would still say go for it, be a tough car then :D

depending on the housing size it will easily match a GT30 for response, in fact a T67 8cm (very similar) we did recently shat all over the GT30 the differrence in response was like 40rwkw between 3000-4500

Future mods before turbo:

if you are just looking at <300rwkw with top mount td0625g you will need none of the above, although oil cooler would be a good idea for track use.

you could easily get 280-290rwkw from what you have already but dont forget z32 afm.

yeah ex housing choice will change rpm response alot, a mate of mine had the smaller td06-20g on his r33 gtst not sure of ex housing size but it didnt hit hard till between 4500-5000. nice once it was on though..

It is said to be the 8cm version of the td-06 25g, so should hopefully be not too laggy.

I have two mates in Adelaide who have been driving around with 300rwkw for 4 years and have not had a problem and they drive there car everyday as well as doing a couple of track days.

I think it is more about the tune and support mods as well as the way you drive the car to how long your engine will last.

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.

    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
