Hey,

I was looking at purchasing a EVC and it sais install it either right before or after the cat... what if i dont have one.. are they still effective or not worth it??

you'd want to install it as far back as practical to avoid the possibiility of it being heat damaged. they do make a difference.

and sean.. they are a piece of shit that dont work and blow closed causing boost issues and also the cable siezes up. all round a waste of time and money.

Rubbish, I have one installed on my 3" exhaust with no boost issues whatsoever when set to fully open, they DO work and quieten up the exhaust a hell of a lot.

yeh i can also clarify this, iv used an Apexi one on a RB20 and it takes out all the drone and makes it so much quieter and it also its good for when someone who is not used to the car you can restrict there power also. I would say definatly worth the money if u hate exhaust noise on hwys and long trips.

Whether you have a cat or not wouldn't make a difference, if you're wanting to know about positioning, you pretty much have to have it installed somewhere behind around the gear lever area, as the cable needs enough area to loop in a slow curved manner, instead of a sharp angle.

If you drive with the valve closed then yes you have restriction, so no you can not build boost properly.

With the foot flat to the floor with the gate closed, your acceleration speed is limited to about that of a 50cc scooter, even in 1st gear it is that slow.

With the gate completely open, there is no difference to acceleration now, as to before having it installed.

i just want it for when i come home late or when cops come to do a "random" check on car. DOnt wana get defect for too loud and dont wanna make it quiet cause i like the way it is... might get evc

That's why everyone wants it right? p.s. you missed out the part where you'd like to close the valve when you are at the lights and the cops pull up behind/beside you

yeh the car i was in didnt have a cat either and it was still nice and quiet with the apexi exhaust valve. .. they are about 3-400 bucks arnt they?
