Hey guy im fairly new into all of this. Just got myself a 96 r33 gtst series two. It has a blitz exhaust and pod filter fitted. Not sure what to do next....intercooler? BOV? would like to make it a high mount turbo but no sure if thats worth it. Also im on p-plates so i dont want to much attention........ if anyone can help that would be tops. : )

hey mate if ur not lookin for atention dont worry about the BOV i reckon go straight for the frount mount and air intake, dipending on what you like with your car i would go and put an exedy race clutch in, proberly the best thing done to my car.(but im setting up for dori)

the high mount set up is worth it if you are eventually lookin at high power mods like bigger turbo set ups and sh*t.

(or you could just sell it and buy a r32)

Best advice...

Drive it for at least 6 months and get used to the power it already has, in the mean time you can save your pennies for future mods.

Have a look in the 'Forced Induction' section for all your rb25det knowledge, and have a look at what other ppl have modded to get there power gains. :P

Don't buy a clutch if your stock one isn't stuffed/slipping imo.

Is your exhaust full 3" from the turbo back? If not finish that off - and get a front mount intercooler.

Yup turbo back..and the stock clutch is fine : ) does anyone know a good place for front mounts?

Also, take infamous-t's advice. Drive it around without too many power gains just yet. Learn exactly what you want to do with this car. Plan the whole setup. That way you get used to handling a more powerful rwd car, and you avoid chopping and changing between mods. Get a shopping list and know everything you want before you buy anything :)

i reckon go mod by mod unless you are planning on full ground up rebuild which your not, i agree with driving and getting used to it and then adding power but def plan it other wise you will end up buying cheap sh*t off here and never needing to use it

Its best to do a lot of investigation first to figure out what you want. Atm your asking what mod to put in, you say you want a high mount etc. Now these are all valid questions, but you need to know what you want the finished product to be. Obviously things such as a front mount are fairly generic across the range, but there are a lot of little things that can be done to keep your car reliable for its purpose. What that purpose is, you need to figure out.

For instance. People always want to put on a lot of mods and crank up the boost. They forget about important things like brakes, internals of the engine, suspension setup etc etc.

I'd say get the fmic for sure. But before you get a high mount manifold, do some investigation and see what you want out of this car. Then you can plan exaclty what you need, and make sure your car is still reliable and capable of handling the extra power.

Hope that helps. SAU is very useful and full of information. Use the search feature and read a lot. Ask questions of people who know what they are talking about.

P/s: As R33 GTS said, know what you want to do with the car. Then work your way from there, also understand something called $$ constraints, and possible $$ constraints in the future. 1 very important "mod" ... full comp insurance. :P

go for the mods i say!!! skylines are terribly slow in stock form and the only ppl that crash are ppl that cant drive..

So I assume you were an awesome driver capable of anything as soon as you got your lisence? Don't think so.

nickr33turb is still on his P's, so he's still a young driver. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not saying cause you're on your P's, you're a bad driver. Just inexperienced. I don't care how good a driving instructor is. Nothing beats experience when it comes to being in control. The more power you have, the finer the line becomes between in control and potentially out of control. I've had my license for a fair few years now, but I still know I've got more to learn. Want to do some advanced driving courses etc.

Get used to the power and rear wheel drive and the feel of boost. Then make upgrades as you go, with a final plan in mind.

      This car has run before on this z32 ecu can get the part number for you, I have tried with no AFM it didn’t change anything, I compression tested today 140-150 across all 6 cylinders, also set fuel pressure to 43psi. The only weird thing was cylinder 1 plug was black and fouled other 5 cylinders were just wet with fuel. Spun cas by hand and confirmed injectors are clicking

      A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.

      The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?

      So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
