You could start by joining a CAMS affiliated car club. To check which clubs are affiliated with CAMS check their website www.cams.com.au The website also has a lot of other useful information about c.ub racing including licencing etc.

Once you join a club they will have all the information you need

Queensland Raceway has a series called TopGear where you can race pretty much anything, but its not something you'd jump into without experience.

Saturday and Wednesday arvo sprints are popular, you can race anything that's safe and you're only racing against the clock in groups of people with similar experience. Cost is about $90 plus $55 for a yearly AASA licence.

yes the sprints is the best way to get started in motor sport. go to www.queenslandraceway.com.au and you will find an entry form for the sprints and the calendar to see when the next event is on. the next one is in early September.

Apart from CAMS licence you need a roadworthy vehicle, cash to use the track, helmet, long sleeve shirt & pants, grab some octane booster too.

Also make sure your tyres aren't worn too bad before you head out. The rest you'll be briefed before they let you onto the track anyway.

Have fun!

    • thanks for the advice on the box... i was thinking the 6 speed was better for cruising on the highway but on closer inspection and comparison the Rb 5 speed box was not too different...  So the choice is going to be the RB25 box... if I can save up and find one at the right price
    • Thanks Matt, yes that's what i am aiming for. Just going to apply the right voltage and grounds to the dash connector. Hence my search for these pins... any chance you know if these pins are in the same spot as the ones on the S15 Dash connector? as mentioned above on page 8?
    • Yes, unfortunately that's the one. Signal was noisy to begin with; after driving once and looking back at the logs I saw pressure constantly swinging between 0-200psi, or staying at 0 randomly for a few seconds. There's a lot of good sensors that share the same look and feel, so don't presume they're all bad. I bought mine for 20$ off Amazon and I should have read the reviews prior, as it's clear they're junk.  I purchased a lowdollerr motorsports sensor.
