plumbback

Nice and quiet.

Venting was invented for race cars. The view was, they didn't want air entering the engine that has to go through the turbo 2 or 3 times, so they'd dump it to atmosphere.

As for back fires. If you have ceramic turbines, yes, it can be quite bad for the turbo.

i have a stock plumback GTR bov on my GTS-T and im happy with it. don't like the thought of having a massive venting pssstttcchhh sound everytime i change gears, and its 1 thing less you have to worry about with the police pulling you over.

BAM: I know of guys who run return lines from down UNDER the front bar on the drivers side back to the intake pipe.

As for back fires. Seriously. Think, what is a backfire. It's fuel, igniting as it goes out of the engine. What does ignited fuel create? Heat. What do ceramic turbos hate? Heat...

I know that, I'm just giving a reason why some people don't run bov return pipes... Personally I'd always vent the bov back, I can't survive without daily driving ability.

personally i hate atmo venting valves. they pointless for most street cars, all they do is attract unwanted cop attention and make your car stall but everyones different i guess.

plumb back or no valve at all is my cup of tea! love the sound of chatter!

Whats wrong with your stock BOV?

I would personally just use the stock one.

If you just want a BOV that works, and does what it is supposed to, just use the stock one. its got all the stock plumbing in the intake pipe, and its all plumbed back for you.

Cost effective, cant get defected, and it works. What more could you want?

I've seen people running 18psi+ on a standard R32 BOV without it leaking, I can only presume an R33 one would be better due to its age, and new design..

I doubt your running more than that sort of boost?

Thanks,

Abu

where'd you find the gtr one? i'm on the hunt for one ATM :D

i recently just put back on my stock BOV....and its fine i guess but i still like the wank factor a atmo one gives.

and everyone knows it here majority of us like it that way.

to be honest the every day street car will not benefit shit all from a atmo or a stock bov, but u gotta ask yourself is it causing more trouble then good.

with cops these days its a real pain to be constantly defected and requiring a RWC.

me personally have learnt the hard way so im stickn with the stock bov for a while, its diffrent....so im happi

HAHAHA! geeeez, money to burn?

hey lets not go overboard, each to there own, its defiently handy, and the amount of money ive spent buying RWC i coulda saved up buying one of those BOVs....real REAL handy.

but like i said...700 bux....dosnt do it for me

sound pretty mean aswell.

ATMO when you don't need it, is for wankers.

You want to keep creating a bad image for all other skyline owners, go ahead. I'll sell mine and buy something thats image hasn't been f**ked in the ass by a whole heap of try hards.

I have a 300rwkw Skyline and I'm still running the factory BOV. Why? Because the car doesn't stall, the cops don't hear it, and so I don't look like a wanker.

Seriously, when was the last time chicks came running out flashing their tits and vaginas trying to get into your car because they heard the sound of your BOV? 98% of people that hear it think you're a try hard wanker. That is the complete truth.

No one cares that your car goes whoosh and backfires everytime you change gears.

were did 700 bucks come from? 300 will get you a gfb hybrid bov

yeah it is only the electronic on that is 700.

and running a plumback bov is better because the air that is getting plumed back in has been through the intercooler and is nice and cold.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
