Before doing that, I'd get a larger diamter return hose for the bov from some place like clark rubber.

plug it to the bov and the other end to the return outlet on the intake pipe.

see if thats the restriction.

if you still get it, try your atmo bov.

if the atmo bov resolved the flutter issue, then a single GTR bov vented back has found it's limit.

the only reason I say the return pipe is the issue I had with my S14... or any 200sx for that matter.

you'll find that if a pod is fitted and they've raised the boost even to a mere 10 psi, at full boost gearshift, you will get a flutter.

and it's because of the pissant return line which becomes a flat section as it goes across the motor.

the new hose will cost you like $2 for a meter length.

just get a cheap clear hose as a test.

Seriously, when was the last time chicks came running out flashing their tits and vaginas trying to get into your car because they heard the sound of your BOV?

Only last week i cracked a "Paatoosh" in front of the local catholic girls high school, and had dozens of vagina's and breasts coming from all angles. Clambering up onto the bonnet, falling through the sunroof, getting stuck under the car, was lunicay.

Use a large quality after market unit and plumb back - done, poontang mobbing can be dangerous for your heart

whats the biggest port size on a bov these days? I know some turbosmart one we have on our race car is too small and we still get reversion. Was thinking of two std rb25 bovs.

Get a GTR twin setup

Good for over 500rwkw

I see you changed your user id but not your dumbarsed attitude.

cry me a river man, how bout some productive criticism instead of sooking cuz someone hurt ur feelings

Also, your comment on ATMO being as good as stock \ plumb back - is crap.

They aren't. You obviously have no mechanical knowledge, and don't know that you simply can't use a ATMO BOV with a AFM configured car without running into problems.

Its not a personal taste - Its an annoying mod that people put on to piss off cops, and make owning a "japanese import" harder for the people that don't like to attract attention.

so ur telling me there is no advantage wat so ever in having a atmo bov?

he didnt say dont be ignorant. so if he meant that?, why didnt he say that?.. instead of a example which made no sence..

and im sure this topic has more of a impact on your car then a neon. Your talking about taste, bov isent about taste, its about performance!, a neon is taste, or a color is taste, not a bov or tyres and performance parts.. lol.

but i think if any one reads through this thread, you will get a good idea of what is best.. each to there own, very true..

some people compare what track cars use?.... well, im pritty sure most are useing there cars for street, (i know there alot of track guys out there  .. so how about, go plumback for the streets?, and what ever you want for the track hey?..

bov are loud enough, why do why need atmo on the street?, and there are some great points about turbo life with a plumback, very easy to understand...

agree with you partly, BOVs aint a personal taste but the noise is, and unfortunately more ppl get it for the noise then the performance. and yes ur right, ppl who are driving there cars on the road should proberly just stick with a plumb back, because there is no need for a atmo bov. but i could say the same about exhausts. why bother fitting a larger exhaust if your only using it on the street. simple...........wank factor

i guess the point im trying to make here is dont diss other peoples personal tastes. some ppl do like loud exhausts, and bov sounds. and some like the performance they give (and dont say there isnt any gain in using a atmo bov cuz there is) its there car and their life. i find it absolutely shockn you guys are bad mouthing ppls tastes in cars. i could look at any of you for a second and say ur a total top bloke because of a,b or c

but i dont...because i repect your decision.

Well...i got my GTR BOV for about $70...Good value if you ask me...bolts straight in...just need a larger hose for the plumback thats all...

Hrrrm, good to know, cheers. I think im hocking my stockers soon, to make room for a oil cooler core in that brake duct area.. hrrm..

Dragsters run superchargers, no BOV.

WRC I think someone stated DON'T run BOV at all.

drag cars cars have a endless different motor setup not just superchargers :)

infact there is a motor with both supercharger and turbocharger from the factory.

and when u think about barja, truck racing, drift, drag, hillclimb, touring car ect.ect the motors and choice is endless

alot of XRX`s use vent

but i do like the stig. :P

agreed for sure.. taste is taste, and if we all had the same taste, it would be to weird!!. we would be looking for the same looking girls..haha.. thats what makes us us.. i agree with the exhaust, i guess thats taste, but, i see some people buy a car, eg, my room mate and the wrx, and pop on a cheaper exaust, just so they can have the sound, and the dam exaust is way to loud, not even close to legel, the so called jasma stamped version are meant to be that bit beta, i saved a bit more cash and bought a jasma stamped 5zigen exaust, and its been worth it, nice and quiet, but hey, at the same time, we can say taste, but theses two things people crave the taste, are some times being abused and getting others introuble, (because of sound)... taste i agree on for sure.. but when the taste is giving of to much attention, and like every damn friday or saturday night, it gets a bit much.. (when its abused). cops are changing to get us, we need to change as well...

While on the topic of plumbacks and atmo BOVs. I want to convert my atmo to plumbacks by taking off the trumpets and putting hoses to the recirculation piping. Will this stuff up the AFMs making me stall all the time, or am I just better to take them off and seal up the holes with a metal plate? Am I better to just get GTR stock BOVs and replace what I have. I just got the GTR and it has blitz ones and i dont thing RTA will allow me to get the RWC so I can register it if they are Atmo BOVs. Is it purely a noise problem or also increases the emissions?

THANKS :)

What is the use on giving YOU constructive criticism? we've all worked out that was of no use long time ago.

so ur telling me there is no advantage wat so ever in having a atmo bov?

YES. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE TELLING YOU..

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORDS THAT ARE COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH (keyboard)?

do you want us to tell you slower?

sorry mate but now ur talkn shit....they may seem useless to you but they defiantly serve their purpose....

    • Thanks for the reply mate. Well I really hope its a hose then not engine out job
    • But.... the reason I want to run a 60 weight is so at 125C it has the same viscosity as a 40 weight at 100C. That's the whole reason. If the viscosity changes that much to drop oil pressure from 73psi to 36psi then that's another reason I should be running an oil that mimics the 40 weight at 100C. I have datalogs from the dyno with the oil pressure hitting 73psi at full throttle/high RPM. At the dyno the oil temp was around 100-105C. The pump has a 70psi internal relief spring. It will never go/can't go above 70psi. The GM recommendation of 6psi per 1000rpm is well under that... The oil sensor for logging in LS's is at the valley plate at the back of  the block/rear of where the heads are near the firewall. It's also where the knock sensors are which are notable for 'false knock'. I'm hoping I just didn't have enough oil up top causing some chatter instead of rods being sad (big hopium/copium I know) LS's definitely heat up the oil more than RB's do, the stock vettes for example will hit 300F(150C) in a lap or two and happily track for years and years. This is the same oil cooler that I had when I was in RB land, being the Setrab 25 row oil cooler HEL thing. I did think about putting a fan in there to pull air out more, though I don't know if that will actually help in huge load situations with lots of speed. I think when I had the auto cooler. The leak is where the block runs to the oil cooler lines, the OEM/Dash oil pressure sender is connected at that junction and is what broke. I'm actually quite curious to see how much oil in total capacity is actually left in the engine. As it currently stands I'm waiting on that bush to adapt the sender to it. The sump is still full (?) of oil and the lines and accusump have been drained, but the filter and block are off. I suspect there's maybe less than 1/2 the total capacity there should be in there. I have noticed in the past that topping up oil has improved oil pressure, as reported by the dash sensor. This is all extremely sketchy hence wanting to get it sorted out lol.
    • I neglected to respond to this previously. Get it up to 100 psi, and then you'll be OK.
    • I agree with everything else, except (and I'm rethinking this as it wasn't setup how my brain first though) if the sensor is at the end of a hose which is how it has been recommended to isolate it from vibrations, then if that line had a small hole in, I could foresee potentially (not a fluid dynamic specialist) the ability for it to see a lower pressure at the sensor. But thinking through, said sensor was in the actual block, HOWEVER it was also the sensor itself that broke, so oil pressure may not have been fully reaching the sensor still. So I'm still in my same theory.   However, I 100% would be saying COOL THE OIL DOWN if it's at 125c. That would be an epic concern of mine.   Im now thinking as you did Brad that the knock detection is likely due to the bearings giving a bit more noise as pressure dropped away. Kinkstah, drop your oil, and get a sample of it (as you're draining it) and send it off for analysis.
    • I myself AM TOTALLY UNPREPARED TO BELIEVE that the load is higher on the track than on the dyno. If it is not happening on the dyno, I cannot see it happening on the track. The difference you are seeing is because it is hot on the track, and I am pretty sure your tuner is not belting the crap out of it on teh dyno when it starts to get hot. The only way that being hot on the track can lead to real ping, that I can think of, is if you are getting more oil (from mist in the inlet tract, or going up past the oil control rings) reducing the effective octane rating of the fuel and causing ping that way. Yeah, nah. Look at this graph which I will helpfully show you zoomed back in. As an engineer, I look at the difference in viscocity at (in your case, 125°C) and say "they're all the same number". Even though those lines are not completely collapsed down onto each other, the oil grades you are talking about (40, 50 and 60) are teh top three lines (150, 220 and 320) and as far as I am concerned, there is not enough difference between them at that temperature to be meaningful. The viscosity of 60 at 125°C is teh same as 40 at 100°C. You should not operate it under high load at high temperature. That is purely because the only way they can achieve their emissions numbers is with thin-arse oil in it, so they have to tell you to put thin oil in it for the street. They know that no-one can drive the car & engine hard enough on the street to reach the operating regime that demands the actual correct oil that the engine needs on the track. And so they tell you to put that oil in for the track. Find a way to get more air into it, or, more likely, out of it. Or add a water spray for when it's hot. Or something.   As to the leak --- a small leak that cannot cause near catastrophic volume loss in a few seconds cannot cause a low pressure condition in the engine. If the leak is large enough to drop oil pressure, then you will only get one or two shots at it before the sump is drained.
