Insurance cost + maintenance + Cop magnet + Thief magnet = Hard car to sell

well i just bought me a 32 gtr and maximising from the decrease in market.....however the r33 gtst has depleted as much if not more....

looking forward to saying by to my baby for much less then shes worth.....

Actually I don't reckon there is any substantial price difference between importing a car yourself & buying one from a private sale. Not now that the dollar has tanked again, anyway.

That's the stupid part importing them is hardly ever cheaper than a local find these days, why don't people wise up. At least if the car's already in the country you can check it out, look for any suspect repairs and test how it drives. Importers are out there to make money, the average car seller is just looking to get into another car and just wants fair price usually well under importers...

Well let me give you some feedback from my perspective. This is meant to be constructive criticism from a buyers perspective so please don't be offended.

I am looking to buy another GTR as I just sold my 34 GTR. I'm actively looking at cars on the forums, off the forums and through word of mouth. I looked at your ad on the forums and decided it didn't warrant a follow up from me because:

- Modifications do not seem to be well thought out

- Exhaust looks like its about to fall off in that rear shot

- No pics of the interior , 1 blurry pic doesn't really count

- No engine bay photos

- Most pics are extremely low res I can't tell anything from a 555x416 pixel photo

- Power figure is a guess, is it tuned?

- You didn't post the year model

- You didn't post the total km's or even an estimate if it's had the cluster changed

- You didn't post a location and you blanked out the number plate... no idea where you are mate...

I don't know what you expect but you have to do some of the work if you want to attract buyers, don't expect them to ask every single question which should have already been answered.

Also you obviously have a digital camera so get out there and use it and post some proper photos not ones you've downloaded from carsales.com.au. High res photos make me stop and look at a car for far longer and usually short list it for a visit. That is if i know where the car is to begin with.

Exactly. Even with the best will in the world the people inspecting cars in Japan are under time pressure. On the other hand you yourself can inspect a local car at length.

I think alot of people but a car out of Japan because.

1: As much as anything that is what they WANT to do.

2: They are too impatient to find one locally & believe an import will get here quicker (It wont)

3: They mistakenly believe it will be cheaper.

4: They believe the choice will be better in Japan (only sometimes)

From having looked at a number of local cars you will usually find them in better condition than fresh of the boat imports because the owners as often as not will put time in to fixing stuff that the Japanese wont be bothered with.

Well putting aside the prejudice it is pretty easy to pick a badly done up & thrashed car when it is stood there infront of you. Less easy from a few grainy photos & a three sentence description.

Not sure what is Japanese for bogon but you can be sure the cars get used hard in Japan.

Yeah... obviously *I* am the one dreaming. It's really obvious by the fact that I sold my $70,000 car in three weeks but you can't sell your $30,000 car in almost a year.

cars by and large are relatively undriven here due to the headaches associated with traffic, inspections, road tolls etc etc etc.

look at this Vspec R33 for example.. the owner only expects around 12 thousand and its been babied.

If you listened to the advice being given, and took it on board rather than labeling people as dreamers, your car might have been in someone elses garage by now.

I'm not surprised you can't sell your car. with the attitude you just displayed towards sewid who gave you some helpful, constructive criticism. as for trouble selling skylines? there isn't any at all. In the last couple of years I've sold me 32 GTST in about a month, my 33 GTR in les than a week (and for much more than $30K) and I think my 32 GTR will be sold before I even advertise it for sale. but understand that if you want to sell your car you need to be prepared to actuall sell the thing. I wouldn't expect any less than a dozen pics clearly showing interior, exterior (from at least 5 angles), engine bay, boot area, possibly some under body pic. Also the fact that you couldn't even be bothered with year model and kms is not good. then when you got some decent feedback you got all defensive... get used to looking at your car as I think it'll be in your possession for a while.

sorry all, i have taken into account whats being said, and acted upon it

just used to idiots making stupid remarks rather than constructive criticism as shown,

gets very frustrating and sometimes hard to decifer the 2

i appreciate what has been said, its not easy selling cars like these as most would understand alot of

tyre kickers etc..
