Oooh how fun! Good thread dude! I hope alot of you guys go down and give it a whirl. I've already got my dyno sheets so im right lol. But for the rest of you be a good idea on what your getting even tho dallas dyno is out of wack a bit!

I think i recall Fabio saying 70$ for 3 runs or something? So group buy be alot cheaper.

In the talk of dyno and drags, who's entering this up-coming event?

I'll have fresh tyres and some better gearbox oil in so im up. I get paid before the day so no excuses this time! Touch wood!

I have a few entry forms for the Show 'n' Shine if anyone wants one. They can be dropped off at ASAP or The bike shop near the traffic lights...

You can pay when drop off or on the day! i rekon we enter the Street Machine category. if we can get enough of us to enter they will add a category for us next year!!! So everyone needs to enter, it's only $20...

hey az that info's good as, sadly to say i wont be entering my car in the show and shine, sadly it wont be painted and ready by then, good luck to everyone else going, make the v8's look silly ha ha..

bad luck lee hope it all works out for you man

$20 aint much to support the cause! Any presentable car in town has no excuse for not turning up.

Even though the judges will be V8 biased, hopefully a import will get a place in Street Machine.

Surely a import will take out the sound off.

 My front bar is hacked up by rocks and chips from the previous owner and myself... Adelaide trucks can do that to you... bah! The rest of my car is in alright condition. Looks great with a polish and ect.

Do they check the inside of your car haha :D Mine's clean as a whistle! Always is. Dont like a dirty interior.

So your in! great.. My bar is chipped too and my guard has a dent. unless i can get the new ones on in time!

Can anyone repair fibreglass as they arrived today and one has a small crack!!

Who's cruisin tomorrow night(Saturday)????

hey man hit fabio up for the fibreglass, if not maybe grab a kit from chembrie at ASAP and give that a go, only prob in you'll need to get the bit you reglassed painted cause you have to rub down the surrounding area... best of luck man..

oh and ill prob be out but i got balled back tyres :) might save up for new rim and tyre package rather than spend on tyres seeings it only gets driven on weekends lol..

catch

My farking low beam globe blew up on the weekend... typical. 1st my fog light and now this one... They were awsome while they lasted.. 9weeks.... lol. Imight just put my standard crap in... Orange/yellow crud.

Yeah jimmy man, if your still up for doing a bit of finishing up cleaning at the carwash before we head to S&S on sunday let me know. I'll have to spend some time cleaning the crap out of mine and would be better to roll up with someone then be nigal lol

ok guys wat should i do for my sr20det 180sx??

here are the options:

1. rebuild my current motor with forged internals ect ect - will cost roughly $3000.00 in parts

2. buy another standard engine and just replace mine - can get one for about $2000.00

3. buy an rb25 and do a conversion into my car - is going to cost about $5000 from a place in adelaide going off their website. might cost more i dont know

currently my engine is suffering from low compression, dead turbo and the keyway on the crank is worn out.

im only looking to make about 240 ish rwkw and this can be done with a standard bottom end and will still be reliable.

so what you think?

Guest Rexlr8

My choice be 2.

I would go the Std engine. If your only after 220-240kws then that can happen no worries on std internals and engine man. Bolt on could get you netting that and still be very streetable and a weapon at that. And on lowish boost.

It will be cheaper for you to buy a std engine and then bolt ons and a trip down to adelaide or melb for not that much.

But thats all i would do. Rb25 is sweet, but for that extra $$ you could put towards other things.

Its entirly up to you tho man. My choice will would be above. Std engine. Your current bolt ons plus a decent bang turbo and a sweet tune and you will have your 220-240kw no friggen worries. If i can get almost that at all 4's with just bolt ons and a tune you will have it no worries without breaking a sweat!!!. And the left over money can go towards panels maybe? Paint? Im sure Fab will help you out eh?

Hopefully you make a decision soon tho :( Roads pretty empty out there without that chick on the bonnet

But as i said before, up to you man. Do what you think you will be happy with.

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
