Hi all

Just wanted to vent out at a particular car parts and accessories retailer out in South West Sydney.

I would never normally go to them, but my gf went to them 3 years ago to get her windows tinted. We made the unfortunate mistake of going there because it was just for window tinting and not much could possibly go wrong. Well I was wrong.

To cut a long story short, basically they are not upholding warranty for tints that have severely faded, and have bubbled in certain areas. Even though we had a receipt and it was clearly stated that there was 10 years warranty.

Funny thing is, we had the car booked in with them to get the tints redone after several visits and phone conversations. So I woke up early, brought the car to them, and the boss storms out, already angry for some odd reason (probably because he has to work for free fixing the tints), and refuses to work on the car. The boss drives the car out of the workshop, nearly running me over and and hides away at the back of the workshop refusing to even deal with it in a civilised manner.

Who else has been stung by something like this? and why are people allowed to get away with it? Its ridiculous!

If anyone is ever scared of being stung by these guys, then shoot me a PM. You'll probably already guess who it is haha

Note: this has been my true personal experience, I cant say your experience will be the same so don't take my word for it, but I urge you to do your research to save you from headaches in the future

ring up the department of fair trading and see what can be done.

a warranty is a warranty - there are no if's or butt's about it.

Yep, and at this stage I would demand a refund for the original work, as you cannot trust this workshop (as long as Fair Trading agree you can do that)

if not - take a few boys down.

Muhahaha

Not sure who you're talking about, but I've had Tint-a-car do my last couple of cars, and they've been good, even when my old car was broken into they replaced the tint for free on that window... But of course they are Franchises so could be hit and miss depending on which one you go to.

Sounds pretty unreasonable what you experienced. Take it further, make a point.

^^ agreed...as primative as it sounds. some ppl just dont see reason any other way. but there's no need for a FEW mates, just let the idiot know... LOUDLY... it's not going away till he deals with it. i'd be chasing my cash back.

someone shoot me a PM with the business name, just so i can stay away from yet another dodgy dealer.

Threatening the department of fair trading should snap him out of that mood.

Worked a treat when a mate purchased an r32 gtr from a dealer and they didn't want to fix a diff that wasn't working 2 weeks later

LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
