Ran it tonight..went well only ran it on low boost (21psi) to "shake it down"

I finally reached my 20th run tonight so still very much a novice.

So here's what happened...

1st pass 1.60 60' short shifted all gears and ran 10.7 @ 130 MPH

2nd pass 1.49 60' gave it a bit more in each gear and ran 10.4 @ 134 MPH

3rd pass got hassled at the start line about only having 1 arm restraint and forgot to switch it back into 4WD (this was my last run as they would not allow another pass without both arm restraints fitted). Launched it off the limiter and lit it up spinning the rears (2WD) past 60' (1.90). But really put the foot down in 3rd and went through the traps for a new MPH PB of 137 MPH. Across the line both belts (power steering and alternator) came off and tore a huge hole in my top radiator hose. Thus ending the fun for the night.

When its fully tuned with full boost and a driver with a bit more experience this things gonna be awesome.

The car now weighs 3030lbs or 1375kg...but, im still over 100kg.

Nice MPH and car weight, you must be stoked.

Chris, even when i had busted the radiator hose and the night was over for the car i a had a smile on my face and was very impressed with the potential of the car.

Yes i was "stoked"

Stace xx

Congratulations, sounds like its going to be a winner!

RH9 club?

Thats the idea...9's on radials.

no one's done it B4 on low mounts...let alone with synchro box and a Power FC.

We still are yet to connect the Nitrous set-up as well.

Im very happy with the progress so far.

Very nice!!!!

Who said the power fc is a crappy computer ? are you running AFM's ? or map sensor version?

Hope you crack the 9's without the cheating gas.. Will be very impressive when you do.

Running AFM version of Power FC

Looking to run at a private track hire on Saturday.

in this thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=185614 you said

you said you had a SM4 plug and play with MAP sensor..

different cars I guess.

I said "yes we have one"

but...not installed yet

this car goes back a long way that i can remember. Good to see its still going well.

Its an oldie but a goodie.

Car was originally a 1st Anniversary wedding present back in 2001.

1st anniversary present is traditionally paper...Stace got paper...rego paper.

some data on the 10.4 run...the g-tech was not calibrated correctly so the ET's a little off (0.2secs) but the MPH was spot on

med_gallery_23582_772_49076.jpg

as you can see above, the shift point was set to 9000rpm...i didn't see or activate the shift light for the middle of the run and shifted 1-2 at 8400rpm and 2-3 at 8600rpm

EDIT: just replay'd the run and the shift light only came on going across the line (top of 3rd)

the graph below is speed vs time

med_gallery_23582_772_89277.jpg

the car does not accelerate for 0.4secs on the 1-2 change and 0.5 on the 2-3 change, much improvement is to be had there. Very lazy changes and need to rev the car a little harder through the gears.

EDIT: be kind with your comments 2rismo

    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
    • Basically, if there is a part# on the nissan catalogue, it is a genuine part. There is a thing called "new old stock" which is stuff made years ago but never sold (or landfilled), but it is super hit and miss what you can buy. Other than some expensive Nismo stuff there is nothing new being made that suits these cars. The only time to be a little careful is (mostly in the US I think, but maybe Japan too), Nissan started rebranding some cheap crap maintenance parts like oil filters as "Pitworks"; stay away from them, if you are buying cheap just buy whatever the local car parts shop carries The three part numbers have an explanation on Amayama: 0V005 is auto, base style 0V015 is manual 0V505 is auto, hectic momo branded ones, maximum F&F points there!
