yeah I've heard the same about sunroofs, somethign to do with the UV treated glass already being put in, so it blocks most of the UV rays and is factory tinted

not sure about it cracking though :S never seen it crack, it just looks ultra crap when they are tinted beyond the factory spec

yeah i got the same thing when i got my tint put on. asked for really dark tint on the sunroof and got, "we cant tint sunroofs because they crack and even shatter when they are heated." something to do with them being tempered glass i think.

"the best for lesser dont go to the tint molester" he took out my 6x9's then aparently didnt have a drill so he couldnt put them back in!?!? so i had to go back and get them put in from another place out my my pocket then go back to tint professor to get my money back, after waiting for 50 minutes for the guy to come down and talk to me he finally gave me a check. after this i was really pissed off.

i spose in the end it was okay because they did do a good job but they could have called me and told me they needed to take them out, also the bosses manner was really rude to me and my family when he rocked up at my place, he was just a cockey loud f**kwit. he left the courtesy car at my house and never gave me any keys so wtf was with that? i would never go back. i think he is on cocaine. he also started to bag out my friend infront of me even though i called up and said i have a reference from him so aparently i got it cheaper. a complete dick dont go to them. he also never called me when the job was complete i called him up and he said it was done 2 hours earlier!?!??

my car came with death black import tint, you couldnt see out it especially at night it was a death trap. i got the second most darkest tint and it is perfect, il post some pics up if you want.

Of course you can tint a sunroof. just cos it's safety or not, privacy glass or not, who cares. If it's smooth, it can be tinted.

This girl at uni had her sunroof tinted. She was driving along one day and out of nowhere her whole sunroof shattered on top of her.

wow that would have made someone have to change there undies. It is strange because the sunroof glass always seems to be the most dirtiest and also the hardest to clean? is this because it is diffrent type of glass than the windows all together?

I think what the tinters are saying is that the sunroof might shatter while they're tinting it.

They have to use a heat gun to heat shrink the tint so it sits down properly on the curved glass. If they accidently use too much heat (which can happen) it might push the glass beyond the max temp it can withstand and crack or even break with the slightest amount of pressure, like when opening or closing the sunroof. It's possible the integrity of the glass might also be affected thereafter if the glass has been heated way over what it can withstand... with an outcome similar to what kryzsiu posted.

    • From memory when the tank is full is when the resistance from the fuel sender reads its absolute lowest. It sounds like the short has made its way to the fuel sender wires... Which also means the short could possibly be in / around the cluster.
    • Actually, that's what that post is saying is happening, with only the LAST 10mm to the wastegate flange not divided. A whole single centimetre is what they're claiming caused that change. However, I haven't actually punched the numbers in etc to do any mafs, but they're talking 26PSi + of boost, and it taking nearly 2 seconds longer to climb a further 200rpm... Yep, it was in 4th gear, but, say that car does 2800RPM at 100km/h, they're talking a car making 26PSi, is taking an additional nearly 2 seconds to go from 128km/h, to 135km/h... That's pretty extreme to me. Also interesting as you scroll down through the comments and I started reading there was someone who's done very similar testing, on a hub dyno, back to back without even pulling car off the hub dyno, and barely saw any change what so ever on a stupid powered car.
    • You totally couldn't have that many cars running on Ethanol. You'd be employing two full time mechanics just to keep going through the vehicles, flushing old fuel out, and possibly changing anything the ethanol has eaten between the months it would be between drives.
    • A fine grit media blast would make short work of it after you tape up everything  I grabbed a cheapo Ozito one from bunnings for about $30 that I used to clean up some old brake calipers and some brackets Messy, but fast Wear PPE though, stuff dusts up and is really bad for your lungs and eyes
    • It's not true. RBs only have one gearbox bolt pattern. I mean, I was surprised that there was a different clutch bolt count on the weak NAs, but that's on the flywheel, which is not part of the engine.
