Hey guys, just a quick question,

Was thinking of getting an Apex'i Pen Style Turbo Timer for my R34 just as a small addition to the car, and a cheap first mod.

I like to do lets say, a decent amount of 'spirited' driving and thought that it might be a good idea to help preserve my stock turbo

So i just wanted to know if it is a worth while addition to a completely stock car.

Thanks,

Steve

I wouldnt buy one, they are a waste of time.

If you want your turbo wind down; after driving let her idle

Which is what the turbo timer does without you having to wait in the car for a couple of minutes... matter of convenience for those that drive there car more than once a week aka a daily.

And as Grant says don't boost for the last 5 mins or so of your journey. It all helps.

The idea behind a turbo timer is to extend the life of your turbo, nothing more, nothing less.

if you do it make sure its done properly. otherwise I'll have another skyline for parts..

(yes it does expose your main power and IGN wires making the car easier to steal)

since you are in brissy give me a yell. I can bury the thing - does the car have an alarm? if so then the alarm will have to be setup to work with the timer otherwise it will not arm.

Thanks to all for ur input, I would like to attempt the install myself, i've read a fair bit about it, wouldnt mind doin a lil more research, at present the car doesnt have an alarm, which i will get to, but any info on the install would be helpful, particularly R34 owners, assuming there is much of a difference between the 34 and other models

oh and i suppose not to deviate too much from my original question, but does anyone know of any good places to get a decent quality alarm system installed?

Thanks

    • thanks for the advice on the box... i was thinking the 6 speed was better for cruising on the highway but on closer inspection and comparison the Rb 5 speed box was not too different...  So the choice is going to be the RB25 box... if I can save up and find one at the right price
    • Thanks Matt, yes that's what i am aiming for. Just going to apply the right voltage and grounds to the dash connector. Hence my search for these pins... any chance you know if these pins are in the same spot as the ones on the S15 Dash connector? as mentioned above on page 8?
    • Yes, unfortunately that's the one. Signal was noisy to begin with; after driving once and looking back at the logs I saw pressure constantly swinging between 0-200psi, or staying at 0 randomly for a few seconds. There's a lot of good sensors that share the same look and feel, so don't presume they're all bad. I bought mine for 20$ off Amazon and I should have read the reviews prior, as it's clear they're junk.  I purchased a lowdollerr motorsports sensor.
