I am keen to run my 230rwkw R34GTT .... but alas it is no GTR.

My brother-in-law would be keen (R33GTR) he has done many track days with Steve Cramp. Also Munro will be interested (400rwkw R33GTR) I will point him to this thread. I still don't understand your 2wd snobbery - I am happy to give Evos a run for their money. I was doing mid 1:25s around Lala in my S15 with 200rwkw and stock suspension - my R34 has more power and all-over Bilstein suspension.

I dont understand either, if we've got the speed, why no embrarrass the Evos and STis more? :)

dont get upset boys!

if i make one concession next there will be wrx forester and liberty's.

this event will only be the racing variants of the three models sorry.

everyone is missing the point of the day.

my brother has a hardcore GTST that will not be being entered either

no exceptions sorry

well i have enough interest so stay posted for some further details!

Nah dude you got it all wrong.....

STI > WRX

EVO > GSR

GTR > GTST

All models are turbo, all models are Japanese!

Don't see why you can't have a "section" for the "not so great, but still turbo Japanese, slightly lesser model versions"

But hey this is your day, and i do understand, so good luck with it all! safe to say i wont waste my time going to go watch!!

boys common relax!

no gtst will keep up to a evo sti or gtr stock for stock or with similar level of mods around a track so lets not even go down this angle of argument.

And its not a fear thing.

i am thinking more of the GTR drivers on the day the slower times of the gtsts will bring down average times which is what i am planning on using for points etc at this stage

i love gtsts i really do they look great and sound awesome and get great power with minimal mods, but i am afraid that if i dont keep this track day niche it will become too big also, but...................as i have such a soft spot for gtst we will see.

i have plenty of interest let me come back to you all with dates and prices next then we can all talk the sphincter of the universe.

Heyas

I have a GTR but would be wondering about a few things :

Most of my car is stock. 18 yrs old and all, aside from maintenance and broken items. My worry is that something will break while I run the car around the track, and since the car is my daily driver I really dont want this to happen.

I'd like to know what things usually break on stock cars once they get fanged a bit. I have ceramic turbs anda boost controller which never gets taken above 1 bar, etc (see my sig for full mods) but I worry bout breaking my clutch, wearing out my brakes too quick, also wonder how much petrol im gonna go thru while Im hammering it hard. Full tank of hi octane = 2 hrs driving on full throttle perhaps?

Not to mention that but I really am not that much of a driver. the gtr is the first high performance car Ive owned and I still need to learn how to drive properly (sounds funny but most of the veterans know what im talking about)... I dont know how to launch hard, corner hard or drift or anything fancy....so if ur thinking of breaking records, I'd suck nuts at it in spite of the GTR. I got 200kw on low boost but really don't wanna fang too hard... it has been tested 260kw on unsafe boost levels but Im not willing to go there..

I guess im just gonna have to get more money and upgrade all the weak shit... turbos, brakes, clutch, gearbox synchros n bearings etc..

-D

The main thing you have to worry about at a circuit day is cooling, namely engine and brakes. For a heavy GTR, I'd say brakes are quite up there on the list of priorities, both do depend on how hard you're driving too. All the rest should be fine :D

And mod for mod, a GTS-t will always handle better than a GTR, especially through twisty stuff like turns 7-9 at Mallala. ~250kg lighter overall and much better weight distribution means both turn in and mid corner are greatly improved, but corner exit is where the GTR has the advantage. For the lower power cars, getting power down isn't much of a problem, so the GTR doesn't really have a gain here.

Garn, let the GTS-ts out  Promise a few of them have motors to put RB26s to shame :P

Mate by the sounds of it unless you want a broken GTR don't track your car. I am not being rude its just a car that you take on the track needs to be in perfect running order or else something will let go and in a big way!

If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
