If you are not a club member, but wish to join SAU-Vic and be a part of Salon (and all other club events).

Then come along to the meeting and we will take memberships on that night as well.

Info to become a member here:

Obviously your car must be of a reasonable standard to enter. As [Cabin] do have right of entry etc.

Promo Girls

Also if you know anyone (or are someone) that wishes to do Promo Girl type work, come along and we can go over the arrangements.

Im happy to provide a reference for portfolio's and that kinda thing, have a few shots taken by the professional photographers in the club over the weekend and that type of thing as a thankyou.

I already have 3-4 lovely lasses interested, so the more the merrier as always.

Fear not, its not a skank fest with SAU-Vic, you dont have to walk around with nothing on hence the ladies we have are always asking me when they can come back, as opposed to me calling them. Its a great opportunity to have some fun and a few laughs basically.

And thats what Salon is about - Having Fun :D

Any issues/ideas/discussion, please post it up now.

I have a theme idea that i will post up later tonight when i have time to put detail into it.

See everyone there.

Cheers

Ash

This is your chance people to show off your pride and joys to over 5000 over the weekend. It's always a great show with plenty to see and heaps of people in the modded car industry to meet.

There were a great deal of excellent examples of Skylines on the recent GOR cruise and we'd like you to participate more actively in the club's events!

Every year we put on a great show and many of you have visited before. Now is your chance to be part of the great event. All you have to do is join SAU-Vic and you will also have access to the members forums, cruises and events. Stand up now and be counted!

On a side note, I also have a couple nice ladies who have volunteered their services to help out with the stand this year which is ace but the more help we get from you, the better the show will be.

hey ash, dave i wont be able to make the meeting as i live in wagga wagga (undercover cop central).

any way if my car gets refused entry i still wona help out as i was planing to come down and see the show any way.

if cabin was to refuse my car do i get my $100 back.

aslo with an idea for a theam i say we go with the race/track them and promote the fact that the club has a cam's licence. as this might get people who wont to race on the track but dont know were to go or who to join.

i know if my car wont get in under show standeds i could strip but some drift damage (minor) and make it look race. :(

hope this helps chears brentt.

if you wona view pics of my car ------

Hey Brentt,

People can tell that you've put a lot of effort into your car and that's what we like to show off at MAS. I think a bit of a clean is in order but besides that, it would be a unique addition to the stand. Of course, that's just my opinion so it will have to go to the committee to judge whether it makes the cut.

Unfortuantely, I don't think a "race" theme is going to work because all of the real "race" cars we have are going on the NSW trip. It would be a great theme if Chris, Snowy, Jack and others were going to be on the stand but I think we're still going to have to think of other ideas.

If your car doesn't make the cut, you will most likely get your $100 back. I can confirm with Cabin when we submit our applications.

hey leewah

yea she would be getting one hell of a detale if it goes in :(

ill forword a completed form to you and pay next friday if thats cool

also can you conferm the dates as according to my autosalon calander the semis are on the 3-4 nov weekend not the 10-11 like you have said.

alstho this calander was wrong for easter so i dear say it's wrong agan

Brentt,

Hold onto the application form and payment mate. We'll confirm after the meeting on Tues as to whether we'll be going ahead with the stand. It will all depend on the number of people who turn up to the meeting or otherwise notify myself or Ash that they want to partiicpate in MAS.

MAS is 100% on Nov 10 and 11. This was taken from www.autosalon.org.

I'll be there for to help with any ideas, but i won't/can't enter. I've got the WRX DECA on the weekend after Autosalon... so funds will be directed for big margaritas.

Still dosen't mean i can't come and watch Wayne sleep outside again.... :( :(

That's a piss poor excuse Age and you know it! You of all people know how much fun MAS is.

GET INTO IT!!

We appreciate your offer of help though. It's greatly appreciated and we all know you're more of capable of coming up with the goods, bar inflatable cacti.

Brentt's R31 and Ash's could form a good focal point, black vs white. Certainly a big change since the last time I saw Brentt's one at the GOR cruise earlier in the year.

Jason, definately show material yours mate too :(

you slept outside jeffs shed?

Ok ok

What happened is

It had been a big night . And i left this very nice club in king street at around 6.45am on Sunday morning

When i walked out side it was day light and i looked at my watch and thought Autosalon doors open at 9 so

I had a couple of hours to kill so i walked to Jeffs Shed and the Main doors were open so i strolled in and the doors into the cars were locked so i pulled up a chair(bench) and thought i will wait here to 9. then 2 guards walked up to me we had a chat and they said you cant wait here so i walked out side and thought i just catch 40 winks on the banks of the Yarra until 9..

To easy..... :(

I was last man standing..

This year i am getting a motel..

    • I'm looking for some real world experiences/feed back from anyone who has personally ran a EFR7670 with a 1.05 exhaust housing or a .83 I'm leaning towards the .83 because its a street car used mostly for spirited driving in the canyons roads. I"m not looking for big numbers on paper. I want a responsive powerband that will be very linear to 8000 rpm. I dont mind if power remains somewhat flat but dont want power to drop off on top. The turbo I've purchased is a 1.05, although the mounting flange T3 vs T4 and internal vs external waste gates are different on both housings, I not concern about swapping parts or making fabrication mods to get what I want. Based on some of the research I've done with chat gpt, the 1.05 housing seems to be the way to go with slightly more lag and future proofing for more mods but recommends .83 for best response/street car setup. AI doesn't have the same emotions as real people driving a GTR so I think you guys will be able to give me better feed back 😀
    • Surely somebody has one in VIC. Have you asked at any shops?  Is this the yearly inspection or did you get a canary?
    • This is where I share pain with you, @Duncan. The move to change so many cooling system pieces to plastic is a killer! Plastic end tanks and a few plastic hose flanges on my car's fail after so little time.  Curious about the need for a bigger rad, is that just for long sessions in the summer or because the car generally needs more cooling?
    • So, that is it! It is a pretty expensive process with the ATF costing 50-100 per 5 litres, and a mechanic will probably charge plenty because they don't want to do it. Still, considering how dirty my fluid was at 120,000klm I think it would be worth doing more like every 80,000 to keep the trans happy, they are very expensive to replace. The job is not that hard if you have the specialist tools so you can save a bit of money and do it yourself!
    • OK, onto filling. So I don't really have any pics, but will describe the process as best I can. The USDM workshop manual also covers it from TM-285 onwards. First, make sure the drain plug (17mm) is snug. Not too tight yet because it is coming off again. Note it does have a copper washer that you could replace or anneal (heat up with a blow torch) to seal nicely. Remove the fill plug, which has an inhex (I think it was 6mm but didn't check). Then, screw in the fill fitting, making sure it has a suitable o-ring (mine came without but I think it is meant to be supplied). It is important that you only screw it in hand tight. I didn't get a good pic of it, but the fill plug leads to a tube about 70mm long inside the transmission. This sets the factory level for fluid in the trans (above the join line for the pan!) and will take about 3l to fill. You then need to connect your fluid pump to the fitting via a hose, and pump in whatever amount of fluid you removed (maybe 3 litres, in my case 7 litres). If you put in more than 3l, it will spill out when you remove the fitting, so do quickly and with a drain pan underneath. Once you have pumped in the required amount of clean ATF, you start the engine and run it for 3 minutes to let the fluid circulate. Don't run it longer and if possible check the fluid temp is under 40oC (Ecutek shows Auto Trans Fluid temp now, or you could use an infrared temp gun on the bottom of the pan). The manual stresses the bit about fluid temperature because it expands when hot an might result in an underfil. So from here, the factory manual says to do the "spill and fill" again, and I did. That is, put an oil pan under the drain plug and undo it with a 17mm spanner, then watch your expensive fluid fall back out again, you should get about 3 litres.  Then, put the drain plug back in, pump 3 litres back in through the fill plug with the fitting and pump, disconnect the fill fitting and replace the fill plug, start the car and run for another 3 minutes (making sure the temp is still under 40oC). The manual then asks for a 3rd "spill and fill" just like above. I also did that and so had put 13l in by now.  This time they want you to keep the engine running and run the transmission through R and D (I hope the wheels are still off the ground!) for a while, and allow the trans temp to get to 40oC, then engine off. Finally, back under the car and undo the fill plug to let the overfill drain out; it will stop running when fluid is at the top of the levelling tube. According to the factory, that is job done! Post that, I reconnected the fill fitting and pumped in an extra 0.5l. AMS says 1.5l overfill is safe, but I started with less to see how it goes, I will add another 1.0 litres later if I'm still not happy with the hot shifts.
