Me and my buddy were talking trucks when we got thinking about how cool it would be to build a mid 80's Jeep with a 6" lift 35"x12.5"s. But for the powerplant having a well built rb30de with high compression and a bit of head work matted to a GTR 5sp.

What sorta reliable power could you get out of an rb30de on 91 octane pump gas and has many people tried this engine swap before?

Also. Is their a stroker kit for the RB30de engine?

with high compression

doubt anyone would try that combo.

91 octane and high compression wouldn't give you any sort of reliability, or power for that matter

Also. Is their a stroker kit for the RB30de engine?

the rb30de is already a larger capacity block/head combo, what do you want to stroke it to? 3100cc?

you can bore it out if you want; oversized pistons and shorter rods?

try a search; most of what you'd probably ask has been covered before.

this should give you a starting point; if it hasnt been covered then ask away

go with an old nissan patrol that came with the carbied rb30e (GQ i think - late '80s)

then drop a gtr engine in it with a TO4Z

seen it been done b4 - and you can retain 4wd as the box bolts straight up

4wheel crab walking burnouts FTW!!!!!!

We've never had a vehical sold here with a RB engine in it. But we do have: internet, credit cards, welders, tourches (gas hatchet), and rednecks to get an RB powered machine. I almost wanna throw a garret gt28r turbo on it to make the build worth while and out do the v8's on the way to the trails and down gravel roads. I think i'd probably need to build my own front axle so the front drive shaft would fit and narrow a Ford 9" for an indestructable rear end. More or less it would cost quite a bit to do right and for no real advantage other then haveing a turbo offroad truck thats a 9500rpm turbo charged machine compared to a 4000rpm turbo deisel. If i wanted a build that made sense i'd just stroke a 302 to a 347 and have a no effort 300hp 400ftlb with some long tube headers and glass packs (Prince George exaust, haha) to show the ear drums who's boss.

O yea i'd be using glass packs (cherry bombs) for my mufflers with as little bends as possible. Has anyone heard an RB engine with a $20 glass pack?

Dont worry, my real car has a HKS Super Dragger exaust incase you just shit your pants at the words "$20 glass pack" in a Skyline forum. I would laugh so hard seeing any nice car (unless it's got a v8 which beggs fora cherry bomb) pull up with the big red open muffler sticking out the back.

GTS_143 on the R31 forums has a heavily modded RB30DE...

had his first major run on the dyno the otehr day 238rwhp/177rwkw with more room to improve, timing, cams, high octane fuels, etc etc.

yet to do a 1/4 mile on this setup, current time approx 14.2 @98mph @ 150rwkw.

238 wheel hp from an RB30de

Man that would feel like such pure untainted power. If i had a non turbo RB30 powered street car it would be in a 280z with thoes old side draft carbs to give that bone chilling scream. I showed my buddy (same one who wants to do the RB30 Jeep) the service manual to my dads old Datsun 2000 because it showed exploded pictures and detailed pictures of the carbs and his jaw dropped at the site of the carbs and where they were mounted.

Or a old 86 Corrola with a 13:1 compression carbed RB30de, long tube equal length header with side exaust as a drift car.

I think i'm gonna halfto make a stock of thoes blocks over here because i can see allot of fun being made with $300 rb30 blocks on hand.

for a north american - ur almost worth coming over here buying about 20 rb30 blocks and ship them over to canada and then give them a clean up and 'make over' and sell them for around $300 US

you would make a killing (considering a long block here can cost as little as $50AUS and max $250AUS - and that prob with all ancillaries too)

Thats an awsome idea. Im wanting to get a dealers licence in the future so i can import cars from Japan or where ever and sell them here. Mostly so i can drive the cars in the stage between making DOT legal and having a buyer. I'd like to have a r33 GTR and make it an ultra high performance (800hp+) car with a getreg 6sp in it and then eventually my dream car the R34 gtr V spec Nur and get 600-800 from it. But we have a 15 year rule so my dream car is no less then 8 years away so buying and selling cars would be a good thing to do to get money to buy myself cars.

I absolutely love your idea and would be a worthwhile investment, plus i'd have a hell of a lot of skylines and 240's crusing the roads with the forbidden fruit of the North American auto industry under their hoods whopping big block ass. Not like i'd be owning them it's just knowing my babies are all grown up with big turbo(s) attached bullying unsuspecting cars would be a good thought laying in bed.

    • Biggest thing is you're okay!   It sounds like between the accident, and the drive home, it was a pretty torturous trip again! On the bright side, you took the opportunity to enjoy the event more from the perspective of a spectator, than as an entrant!   Sad to see so much damage to the car. It really has taken a HUGE hit in the front end. If/when you choose to repair, hopefully the rails are straight (At least from shock tower backwards). Hopefully the extra cage coming through there has save most of the chassis rails, and HOPEFULLY saved the motor too. Best of luck when you eventually get motivated to start pulling it down to check it all out
    • Sounds more like what Brad said, that it's mainly transfer. What pad bed in procedure did you use, and did you replace/machine the rotors, or just swap pads?
    • The stutter is almost entirely in the pedal. I don't feel the brakes release and reapply as you would with ABS engaging but the pedal feels that way, without the brakes releasing. It only lasts for less than a second and the pedal is fine again. It's hard to explain, sorry.  I'll get under this weekend and just double check everything is tight. Fluid is at max where I left it.
    • What bedding in procedure did you use?   When you say stutter, what exactly do you mean? Like it feels like someone letting go of the brakes momentarily and regrabbing them again to get you to stop? Re-reading your post, and that is what it kind of makes me think you're explaining, like theres a little bit of a jolt, likely just as you're reaching a stop. I've only had this issue once. And if its caused by what caused mine, you will want to get the car up on stands again and check it over. Mine was a case of a caliper mounting bolt coming out and letting the caliper rotate on the other remaining bolt and gave play in a wheel as it came to a stop. But not every stop either!
    • Yeop... binned it   This will be a summary will not many pics atm and cbf  Fixed the samsonas - it was totally munched Put a new precision 7675 T4 on with proper split pulse mani Got to Sydney to get to car - drove to canberra to get racecar - drive back to sydney that night Next day all day at Plasmaman putting on new clamps cleaning some things up and adding another large engine oil cooler sitting at the rear above diffuser to keep things cooler Next day - Tuesday - on Dyno - killer wikid awesome pumped out really good numbers - more mid range and on lower boost levels Wednesday - first prac - all day again getting the suspension right - had to borrow front suspension again - out do a lap come in - out do a lap - in - what i had just couldnt handle the load at the more consistent higher speeds - got a lap in at the end of the day that was pretty reasonable  Put it this way that lap wouldve had me in 4th in Pro am for the whole event - with only 700 hp and used tyres Thurs first official prac day - lap out warm up - then entered a hotlap with above setting and 80% effort took corners 1,2,3 and into 4 car felt awesome -  rear came around out of nowhere bang into the wall near front on at whatever 140 kmph Done, over, gone Just one of those how did that happen apparently as all indications show nothing out of the ordinary Got to spend the rest of the time at the event like I hadnt done before - was actually Ok mainly as I had my family and my boy is 9 and got treated like a rockstar Long trip home, lost a trailer wheel in nowhere land, X5 airbag suspension gave up half way across nullabour and rode on bumps stops (its now completely fine) had to do a 19 hr drive day on day 3 as accommodation got screwed up so just had to keep driving till found a town with some Now to reassess - hopefully the motor and other things are OK but yet to be seen too. There is no easy fix there is no i'll just order that part and get it sent - we'll have a talk to people see what can happen and what the go is but at minimum its rebuild from scratch struts forward and alot of time effort and $ should and if I return and if but maybe/ when  I have the cage tied into the front strut towers - if I didnt have that things couldnt been worse you can say its just a front end but if you know what goes into these cars... you'll know what that actually means in reality   Car was very fast. Disappointing we just didnt get to show it Effort doesnt win you races though     Apparently this is motorsport !
