Peeps,

I'm interested in buying a pair of those replica sports seats from JustJap or one of the other discount performance place?

Anyone have a pair installed, just want to find out whether the quality is alright and more so whats the size like? For all those stocky lads, do you fit into the recliners easily enough? My brother has a Bride seat in his gtir and it's midget size and I can't really squeeze in.

Usually $400-$500 for a pair seems very reasonable, though I don't think they are ADR approved, so are they a waste of money or a solid much cheaper option than geniune recaro, bride, whatever ?

I see them advertised heaps in HPI and Zoom.

go on the rolin automotive site. they have them there. 399 for recaros and there adr approved. they have a few others for like 350 or some crap

Do they feel cheap though? most of the cheap seats i sat in felt way to soft and arent really going to hold you in. I bought a pair of bride brix 2's instead its a bit more money but you know they are going to be up to scratch

The Recaro, Bride and Sparco style seats from Just Jap are all ADR approved and tested.

Really.. cool. More of a bargain that I thought.

I'm dying to hear from people who actually have them installed.. are they the size of gtr seat.. or a bit cramped, don't stock them locally in SA to my knowledge, and haven't found someone who runs them here.

Phoned Justjap and they said you'd really have to sit in one yourself.. kind of hard. Anyway, just want to hear as much as possible as I think I'm going to order.. just don't want to find out that I cant fit, or the material is a bit nasty etc when they arrive.

Cheers

im keen on some results of this i been checkn out the leather recaros at just japs, been hittin the big macs a fair bit LOL will need to know if these can accomodate my fat ass in future LOL

Justjap has listed - 'Universal Rails Included' is that all you need, never fitted a seat?

If needed, whats a set of rails set you back, anywhoo?

Basically you can get your old seat rails, cut of the mounts and weld them onto the universal rails in the same spot.....make sure you get it professionally welded though, might even have to be checked/assessed afterwards for safety standards sake.....don't want your seat coming off the mounts in an accident :D

Cheers!

All these seats are FIA approved. That is all you will need. Even Bride seats arent ADR approved only because it is too expensive to do so.

I don't think that's true at all. I have never seen an FIA approved reclining seat. and if they are FIA approved they will display a label state date of manufacture and FIA approval numbers. also FIA approval means bugger all on australian roads.

I have the bride copies from Just Jap in my car (reclinable) they hold you in pretty well and I don't use a harness. Only thing is it cost me more to get them installed than the actual seats..

And the rails/sliders are a little dodgy, but you get past that.

If you want any pics just ask and I'll throw some up in this thread, once i'm a little more sober.

but all up they are pretty dam nice for the price. Rhyming

More than the seats - no sh*t - did you fly some dude out from Japan to attach them. No really.. is it likely to be that much for most places to fit?

Photos would be ace, cheers.

Are they easy to get in and out of.. or do you lose some street use ease for a locked in driving position?

haha fabrication isn't cheap.. Unless you have hook ups or something.

And yea they're pretty easy to get in and out of.

I'll go take some pics now.

Considering you can pickup the Bride style seats on the forum for $350 Per Pair - Its hardly surprising that installation would be in some cases as much or more than the seats, depending obviously on who does the install and how much they decide to charge.

$350 for a pair of seats, in anyones language is nothing.

Ok they're actually pitch black in colour but the flash + material seems to shine back and make em appear grey. But yea good seats.

And FYI i cbf cropping it etc.. so I just hit print screen lol

Well im sitting in one right now as they also sell the same seats as office chairs. Great seats very comfy. So comfy my fiance made me buy her one for the home office.

I believe they're contagious, everyone who sees my study wants one...

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
