Do you have a need for a complete system all in one brand, or are you willing to mix and match to get the best value for your money? This is personally the way I went - I'm pretty happy with it and none of the items are of the same brand.

Well i doubt its "shit" and will sound fine.. just for similar money spent on other components you would probably get a better overall result. I used to have some Sony stuff in old cars, but wasn't ever that impressed. I'd always get into my mate's Alpine system car and could immediately hear the difference.

Most of the effort with Sony stuff these days seems to be in the design/aesthetics rather than the actual quality..

But horses for courses, its depends whether a person is one that notices those smaller details (or cares), or just wants a nice system to listen to each day at a reasonable price.

predator666 is right, i had some sony splits in my first car and as soon as i got into my mates car with pioneer splits i could hear the difference so clearly. i could have had the same speakers for the money i paid on the sony's and as a consequence i won't get sony car audio products again.

yeah most really really good speaker brands are the ones that u'll only ever hear of once u do a bit of research ... and saying sony is shit before admittly was a bit fast ... its just u can get so much better for what ure paying thats all ... my apologies ... i've been told by many people that the only type of music sony is good for is rnb ..

well admittedly i've never been in a demo car ... but i've been to most shops and talked to many friends who are audiophiles .. i got one friend with probably 4k of sound system in his integra ... i have not had one of them recommend pioneer except for head units so i can only go by what i've been recommended .. also of all the speakers i've auditioned in the shops .. i have to say that none of them has impressed me ... nothing like focals or eclipse ... i was lookin at a hot 4s magazine the other day and i saw some review of splits which costs from 1.5k to 3k .. WTF?? i guess everyone has their own tastes ...

nothing like focals or eclipse

they are nice speakers for the front i agree :)

if i didnt have pioneer i would def go for these HOWEVER!

my system is worth over 4k.... but that isnt the point.. i agree that everyone has their own tastes however if you havent experienced the top of the range blah blah blah everything cheapish will sound unappealing. :) rock on :D:)

my system is all pioneer. if you have a listen and tell me mine is shit i will sell it straight away and buy whatever you recommend ;)

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
