If ya feel like a nice drive in the country I can regas it for you with r 12 A. It is a lot more effecient gas than R134A. You use about half the gas to get the same result. New falcon for example take around 850 grams of R 134a and about 400 to 500 of R12A. I would stay away from R12 even though it is a better gas than R12 A Its getting real hard to find. I'm actually VERY surprised any one still has some. The other good thing with R12A is if you have a old r12 system you don't need to change the o'ring and oil. they are compatible unlike R12 and R134A. You just need to get evacuated and re gassed.

also might want to check the Tests page cant download any of the mpg's

Not sure whats going on with the mpg's some days they work and some days they don't. every thing seem's to be ok on the test page.

Righto - I reckon my R32 needs a regas, and maybe a check for leaks. This thread is a bit aged, but it's the topic that I'm interested so I'll bump it.

Which businesses are the ones to go to for RB26 aircon service these days?

If there is no gas in the system, then obviously it hasn't been used which means there was nothing to lubricate the A/C seals. The seals have probably dried up now and couldn't hold gas anyway. You're looking at regas, maybe new seals and possibly a new condenser depending on when the last time it was used.

R32's originally took R12 gas which has been illegal for while, R34's most likely have R134A or R14A I can't remember which. R12 systems either need to be retrofitted to R134A http://www.epa.gov/ozone/title6/609/technicians/retrguid.html or I believe there is a refrigerant is compatible with R12 systems but not as originally effective as R12

You know what I did in the end - took it to K-Mart Tyre and Auto Service! I had a $50 voucher, so I spoke to Rob at our local KTAS and he said that their staff don't do a/c but they have a subcontractor that travels about and does all of the a/c work for their franchises. I trusted him when he said that their subbie is very good (Rob's a very no-nonsense Scottish mechanic) so I had their bloke look at it, and he sorted it out first time. He identified which seals were leaking and re-gassed it on the first visit. He nailed it too - it's running very well. If there are any further leaks their man will charge for the repair of the leaks but not the necessary re-gas, which I think is pretty reasonable.

    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
