Last weekend I installed Whiteline lowering Springs into our R33 GTS-T. Its an easy job apart from thinking I would also install 6 x 9's at the same time. I thought I might just share with everbody the different ride heights....These are measured from the middle of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel arch.

..... Before // After Installed // After short Drive // After Long Drive

O/S/F ...380mm//// 360mm///// 350MM//// 345mm

N/S/F ...380mm//// 355mm//// 347mm//// 345mm

O/S/R ...395mm//// 385mm//// 385mm//// 363mm

N/S/R ...385mm//// 370mm//// 360mm //// 360mm

Interesting isn't it,,,,Very consistant in the end,,,but didn't they settled down after a good long drive. The n/s/r is very interesting,,,,,10 mm lower to start with,,,got worse and then settled down,,,,I was getting very worried after the short drive.....It looks real nice now,,,not to low,,,,just a lot nicer than looking like an off-roader now.

Sorry,,,,no pics Ryan,,,,Actually it handles a lot better,,,just a little bit more tail happy....slightly stiffer springs and lower will always do that to a street car. I have to get some tyres now,,,something stickyer....FM901's or better....

But seriously....

I got some slightly uprated springs with the car, but am interested in improving the suspension properly - does anyone have a recommendation as for who to talk to about a full package of suspension mods?

Who is happy with improvements with what changes? What was a waste of money? etc? etc?

Neil, did you go the whole kit, or just the springs? I was interested in some sort of adjustable setup so I can move between super rock hard for everyday driving and super super rock hard for the track (I've given up trying to crack 2.00 at they Creek without some extra help:D)

Also, don't 'spose this was your car they are talking about ONARUN?

What do you think about the full package?

hey NDR(neil) ...

which spring package did you end up fitting permanently to your skyline? ive never spoken to whiteline so i dunno what the o/s/r..etc.etc. is...

SO what is the ride like now? Did you re-size the bump stop in the shock (pressuming you are using stock shocks)

my main worry is that fitting lower springs will fugg up ur ride comfort...

i use to have a celica 94 and i lowered it 2 inch on king springs..but the ride suffered badly.. my car felt like it was going to fall apart...

how much do whiteline charge for lowering springs of about 2-inch or 40mm??

Hey soopamarcus,,,,1st questions 1st.

1/ I purchased the 83138's and the 83139's....Standard lowering springs.

2/Nothing is permanent. just got sick of the car looking like an Off-roader.

3/ All the measurements I stated in my original post relate to....O/S/F means,,,Right hand side front of the car,N/S/F means,,,Left hand side of the car ect....Basically N/S means a car parked (normally ),,,near side,,, next to the gutter and O/S means off or away from the gutter. I just wanted everybody to know what happened through the stages of lowering it. Springs go through a stage of settling down before they actually find there right ride height. Go back now and have a read,,,you will see that the car basically was lowered 35mm to the front and 25 at the rear. Thats about where I wanted it,,,so I'm Happy.

4/ No I didn't resize anything,,,,theres no need. I did replace the Rubber boots though.

5/ The ride comfort HAS to change,,,seems that these springs are most progressive,,,,I like them.

6/ I work in the Industry and expect Trade,,, They were very strict and wanted a valid Purchase Order which is far enough,,,,,My invoice shows Retail is $160 a pair,,,thats $320.00 Retail,,,,

Hope I helped,,,Confused about something,,,,just ask buddy.

yeah that's mine. they did some developement on it way back before i bought it. i can't honestly tell you how good it handles as you really have to try it for yourself. but believe me, you will crack 2min at ec.

they had my car on serious performance 5 where they tested different levels of modded up cars. mine was on level 1 from a total of 5 and it beat them all on the track but not on the dyno. this tells you that the suspension was a contributing factor.

the suspension just makes the drive so much more fun too

Neil, thankx dood..now i get it!

But i got more Q's where those came from.

umm..what type of rim/tyre combo are you running? and please!! if u can get pics up here show me!!!! pls!

umm and can u list any benefits in handling since you installed the lower springs.

like besides the fact that it looks good..umm what else have u gained from lowering it? .eg: can u hook a corner harder and faster now??

Ok..so you went 35mm down at the front and 25mm at the rear.

How much can you lower front and rears so that you can still maintain efficient "stock shock" operation?

If ya can answer this..ur a champ! hehee

Sorry man no Pics,,,,No Digi,,,plain old SLR....

I'm running R34 GTT wheels and crappy tyres at the moment. New FM901's in a fortnight.

The car handles heaps better on smooth roads,,,,I can get the throttle on a lot sooner than before and the nose doesn't dive as hard during hard braking,,, but is a bit of a pogo stick over bumps,,,not real bad,,,but I think bigger sway bars will go a long way to fixing that. The cars even better at high speeds now as well.

I wouldn't go any lower using standard shocks,,,,,I didn't have to use a spring compressor to install them,,,I could almost turn the rear springs by hand after fitting them,,,so that tells me the cars weight is keeping them aligned in the shock.

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
