yeah i can dream. but no matter what it a rb26 will be going in there.

got some brembo's going on after the wheels are on also. then most likely do every mod that will support the rb26, eg fuel set up, braking and handling etc

will most likely got rb30 bottom end.

hehe, post count from the old thread of 300 pages:

Hi peeps!!!

This place needs more posts! :)

Hey Shaun, did your brother get married last weekend?

Yes, he did chops it was agreat day and i will post some pics soon of me and him and the 34. :PBJ:

I was the best man and so i took him to the ceremony in the 34 which was just around the corner from our house.

Ok, worked out who you are.

Missed the whole car change thing from the GTS4.

I'm ex KMIF if you don't remember who I am.

Yep, had the R34 since november last year and sold the 32 gts-4 the december before to sky30.

the gts-4 is now pushing out over 350awkw i think.

I remember the old days when we used to work at kmart together. ;)

397rwkw and soon fingers crossed 410-420rwkw ;)

It must be an absolute monster.

Chops.... Andrew(sky30) had it making 380rwkw for some time on the stock 300,000km+ Rb30 bottom end. 7k rev limiter due to stock rods at the time. I don't believe it ever blew just upgraded.

Regency will love you long time.

why is it that when i drive my car i get tooted and screamed out at? out and bout for a few hours today, lost count of the times i got stuff screamed to me from a passing car. Yes it was from guys.. but seriously.. plenty of chicks own skylines now :S Have they not seen a chick in an import before?

Funny, some guy was yelling something so I come back with some smart ass comment and he took off. moron :)

Yeah RB30 requires emissions testing.

Depends if they can tell there's a 3ltr block under there with all the crap hanging everywhere and bottom engine bay cover.

Its quite difficult to pick.

Whats the go with engineering the emissions in Adelaide rb25/30,custom plenum and power fc. Im about to put 10 Grand in to my r33 motor this year but dont wana go rb25/30 if i cant engeineer anythink.

Iv also been thinking of putting the 10grand into my rb25det(internals only) but still would need to engineer greddy plenum and power fc. Iv also herd that you can have a larger turbo but need to stay in the Emissions range. Iv talk to a few ppl about what im looking at doing but stilll lost so i rang up regency but they said do the work and come down and show us but dont wana wast the money to be told i cant engineer it.

Calling regency/vehicle standards I have learnt is a complete waste of time. They are not interested in giving advice.

Your best bet is to contact Doug Potts? (I think it is, will need to double check) of whom can sort out the engineering and emissions testing.

I haven't called doug myself but I believe emissions testing is 2.5k per pop. So if the tuner doesn't do it right the first time your up for another 2.5k to pass the second time; and hope to all buggery it passes otherwise on it goes another 2.5k.

If your going to have it modified legally I would go the rb30 route as the rb25 has nothing on the rb30 when they are both modified *forged internals* and legal.

Do you have the number for Doug Potts iv herd a few guys rave on about him so il give him a call. Iv done a lot of research on the rb25/30 and it does shit over the rb25det just dont wana go all out on a engine that i cant have in the car also a bit worried about spending the money on engineer reports for plenum and power fc and being told i cant have.

    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
